Hi everyone, I have been pursuing my bank charges £1850 for sometime I have exhausted all of the template letters, been passed from Cahoot to Abbey's banking specialist dept and even extended there deadline to try to give them a bit of a kick.

I have as of last night filed my claim online, although even raising the £120 court fee was a struggle I am expecting to have to go almost all the way and am nervous as hell as to what they my attempt to do regarding my credit card which I also have with them. But the £1850 would make such a difference it would pay off cahoot and put me on the road back into the black.
    Hi,
let me know how you get on, i have just received a letter from cahoot charging me £30.00 on 16th nov, and they have stated that the charge has been levied in line with account terms and conditions and is detailed in 'Rates and Fees'

I am just starting my Cahoot claim, i really need to know some info about what i can claim
I have paid out £969.92 in charges on a credit card and would like to know if I can claim for the following
    1.Cahoot Membership fee
    2.Cahoot deferred finance charge
    3.Cahoot billed finance charge
    4.Cahoot overlimit charge assessment

I have paid out £1,532 in charges on a flexible loan with Cahoot
    can i claim for?
    1. Debit interest
    2. Flexible loan insurance
    3.Unpaid direct debit
    4.Unpaid inital debit request
    5. Unpaid normal request

any help our advise would be fantastic
    thankyou
    Ting

1.Cahoot Membership fee refers to a monthly fee that used to be payable on the credit card account instead of interest payments calculated on your balance.

This was replaced by interest rates calculated daily on the balance of your account and the monthly fee is no longer payable. Not claimable

2.Cahoot deferred finance charge is interest added when you only paid the minimum payment Not claimable
3.Cahoot billed finance charge interest rates calculated daily on the balance of your account Not claimable
    4.Cahoot overlimit charge assessment claimable

    1. Debit interest Not claimable
    2. Flexible loan insurance Not claimable
    3.Unpaid direct debit claimable
    4.Unpaid inital debit request claimable
    5. Unpaid normal request claimable

I would love to get my money back from Cahoot for my credit card charges but I cant afford to take them to court at the moment :( I dont know if I would be elegible for a hardship case though as I earn a decent wage but it is taken up by other bills :(
  • You woudn't necessarily have to take them to court. If they don't respond to your letters, or you don't like their offer go down the fos route instead?
  • I was successful with Cahoot on charges applied to a loan. It did take about 6 months and a referral to the Ombudsman but I got my full £250 ish back from them.

Just had a mail from Cahoot who want to charge me £30 for going overdrawn for 1 day only by £2.31.
Ok, It's my fault I'm overdrawn and I expect some kind of penalty, but £30!!!!
That's almost 13 times the overdrawn amount.

They were going to charge me twice for a similar amount because my statement was issued in the few days it was over the limit. So thats £60 for being £2 overdrawn . The worst thing was it was interest they had taken out I hadn't even spent the money. I emailed and they eventually said they would not take the charge out it did take a bit of arguing though. I think if you don't take their first answer and keep hasseling them they eventually give in and refund it.

I am going to write and get my claim in for the rest of the bank charges (about £200). I might even be able to claim financial hardship as I'm on a DMP. It would be great if I get it back soon because it would clear the overdraft and give me some towards paying off one of my other debts.

Have any of you guys had any joy with reclaiming £12 credit card charges? I have all my stuff ready to print and send but don’t want to get stuck when the pretty much guaranteed reply will be 'that’s what we are allowed to charge so there!'
