Rather than forced update, they stopped my wife from using iTunes unless she said yes to the update.
I can't see why iTunes would force some people to upgrade and not others.0 -
My Samsung Galaxy S1 was sold at 65% of cost one year later .
The OP and the recent posts suggest to me not somebody that goes out into the market place asks for opinions decides what's best for them . Returns home happy with the purchase and says yes i am glad i bought XXX . What we have here is a constant drip of anti Android posts many of them totally wrong in content .
Its either fish gone off under my keyboard or something stinks regarding this thread .

Probably that's the flaw in iTunes itself. Prior to the 'forced update', my wife 3G was working with no problem. She wanted to sync some stuff with iTunes, and it refused to let her do anything unless she says yes yes yes to update.... and there goes the functionality of the phone... slowed to a halt. app crashes randomly.... sold it off not long after....0 -

If this was true on google you have many post.
Send me the link otherwise STOP making things up.
Making things up? That was user experience I was talking about....
Funny how you accused others for making things up when you are indeed accusing me for hacking the phone when my wife done nothing but trying to use iTunes NORMALLY.....0 -

Any thing wrong with what phone to go for?
Any thing wrong with try to understand different os, mainly android, windows phone and iOS.
Any thing wrong with try to know where different have advantages as well as disadvatange? All systems are good and bad in some way. You
This is not anti or pro post and I am sure others would have also found it useful. Many people don't know about different os available.0 -

iTunes actually warns me off updating before I have synced. It seems very strange that it would do the opposite for your wife, forcing her to update before she has synced the device.0 -

When I connect an iDevice with an old version of iOS to iTunes and try to update the iOS, iTunes displays a pop-up saying that 'there is data on the iDevice that hasn't been transferred to iTunes, are you sure you want to continue? Yes/no?' or something along those lines. When I cancel the update process, it lets me continue to use iTunes as usual with the old iOS.

If we have an answer to that, we might still be using the phone0 -

What a long thread!
What I have noticed is that people are very defensive of a particular phone and operating system. For me, I have had Blackberry (multiple for work), Android (Samsung Galaxy S) and iPhone (2, and 4).
Blackberry have had their day and even my (40,000 people) company are allowing people to have iPhones if they wish to get email etc..
Androids are great, they allow you to do lots of things. If you are a simple user, they have a market place and have widgets to allow customisation. If you are a bit more techie you can root it, get rid of all the rubbish loaded by the network and update to the latest operating system without waiting too long with Odin. They are also available in a variety of sizes and manufacturers.
iPhones ... mmmm ... I like my iPhone 4. They are perhaps the most fool-proof and have a very good user experience. I do not like iTunes very much, but it does what it says and again for someone who doesn't want to drag and drop files around (as with Android) it is easy. If you really must you can Jailbreak it (not the 4S) to load Cydia and great extensions like LockInfo (superseded by iOS 5 really) and ssh into the phone to do things.
I have never used a Windows phone. I am probably one of the few people in the world who thinks Windows is pretty good. I am typing this from a MacBook and although that in itself is pretty cool (the gestures on the touchpad are great), to me Mac OSX isn't that much better than W7 (which I have running in a VMWare Fusion window for my work image). So I would have thought they did a competent job with a mobile OS?0 -
About Windows, I had been using it on my phones for years and to be fair the old OS (WinMo) ended up being a complete dog's dinner because it was originally designed for non-touch phones in the early 00's and then they kept changing and adding bits here and there and by 2009 (WinMo 6.5) it was more Frankenstein than anything else :rotfl: . The big plus side of WinMo was that pretty much everything could be modified very easily (even easier than Android). Microsoft then completely binned WinMo and build Windows Phone from scratch - it's very, very good but unfortunately they also decided that they would lock the thing down like Apple have, and also remove support for an SD expansion slot... So meh, had to go with Android. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0
