It would be advantageous to see the colour choice in the flesh as it were, however this site seems to display the colour selection a little better on my screen.
http://www.naturalfires.net/Clearview.php for colours.
http://www.sandpitsheatingcentre.co.uk/clearview-vision-500-flat-top/p15 List price here to prove what a bargain! If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
Dont be bothering too much on a fireside set, only thing I use is a glove and a poker, rest is just a dust catcher. I use a bit of kindling to clean the grate out and a normal brush and pan for sweeping up.
Your dead right, gave all the other fighting irons away on freecycle.
The only other item I use now and then is a length of steel rod with a magnet atached to the end which I find great for fishing out the nails, staples and other bit of wire that become trapped in the grate mechanism when the stove is hot.If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
Ooh I see the stove yard http://www.thestoveyard.com/catalogue_item.php?catID=5055&prodID=32043&PHPSESSID=38e341b1b7892e737740b701e2a7a9a6
are selling the Clearview stoves at a slight discount. Someone should tell everyone trying to get one on eBay cause that's how much they are paying. Maybe I should post on grabbit :rotfl:
Thanks again everyone who has helped and offered such good advice and links. I think the stove is honey so will go with that.0 -
Cor, Clearview and CV dealers would have their guts for garters
Thats handy sphynx, I will tell any of our customers who want a new Pioneer. £79 off is better than zilcho.
Just had a look at that site and they dont actually seem to stock any other clearviews though. Or any clearviews apart from that one?0 -

Yup. I got my 400 for £930 delivered last year from a dealer. They may quote a list price but there is sometimes a deal waiting to happen! If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
There is a vision 500 reduced on that site too. Like you say though hethmar no other stoves by Clearview. Might just be old stock and they have decided not to carry those stoves anymore? In which case they probably wouldn't care what Clearview think.0

Yes it was, phoned loads who would not budge though. Various people were offering "free stove pipe" and other items which I did not need. (I had just bought 2 X 1 Metre lenghts of 6 inch enameled stove pipe and 1 x 6 inch tee with cap for 99p!) so I asked for reduction rather than the "free" items. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0

You've our masters in Brussels to thank for this. New regulations have enabled manufacturers and distributors to make even harder for retailers to discount, even if they want to.0 -
Check baffle plates, firebricks and glass and factor into the cost if they are likely to need replacement. This is not an exhaustive list but just what spring to mind. Sure there are more to come!
Noticed glass on one of the doors was a wee bit rattly, removed door.
Botton nut, which retains a rectangle style spring steel washer, which in turn secure glass, nut basically fell apart, had to run a die nut down thread of stud before fitting a new M8 nut.
Top was ok, I thought best to remove and replace with a new nut, would not budge, quick spray with "plus gas" made no difference, brute force saw the whole lot coming off!!!
Fortunately I have threaded bar kicking around workshop, cut to length, welded back on :j and glass securely in place. I also need to replace baffle plate, was 6mm, now a damn sight less and badly distorted, you think Arada Ltd (villager duo MF stove) would send me baffle drawing, so I can make a new one, I have to contact them anyway, as I damaged door firerope seal, which will now need replaced, I'll order them all, and what ever else I may require.
Anyways, what do you reckon about me scrounging a drawing for me to make a new baffle plate???
