Secondhand stove?

Thanks hethmar, I have checked the tech spec (or at least DH has) and he thinks it's about 23 stone. With my brother they should be good for that, though the roller thing might be a good idea I think my brother has one of those. Think they are going tomorrow so if anyone can see any massive problems with this stove please let me know!!0

It looks brilliant to me - it keeps closing as I look but I think wonky is right and its a 500 - well done you. Ill get the OH to look when he gets home tonight but Im sure he will say its a good buy. I wonder if they are including the stove pipe?
OH, is this it too - the bloke is selling a fab fire surround aswell?

Yup, that's the same one!0

It does come with the stove pipe according to the listing. Paste this number into ebay : 180738222070 and it should bring up the details. Two fit men will be able to lift this into a van, not really a one man lift (154Kg) approx 24 stone 3lb. Lift the door off & remove baffle plate and ash pan to shed some weight if you need to. I lifted my 400 myself and wished I hadn`t!If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0

Yes same one. He is including the stove pipe. Really think he has not much idea what it is. I am pleased except a bit worried about the rust.0

Don`t worry, it is probably just smoke deposits. You have got a bargain! Oh you will need some gauntlets as there is not a tool to remove the ashpan on clearviews, they usually come with some when new. Don`t pay more than £3.If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
Any more for any more? Just after buying a piece of granite for it to sit on lol0

OH just came home and whilst the bath was running I quickly brought up the pic with the fire surround and he also thinks it is a 500 - so you have a bargain
The "rust" on top (I couldnt see any) is nothing to worry about, it will be surface stuff, probably some rain getting through a gap in the register plate or something, just rub it off and then buy your cans of paint and respray the whole thing to the colour you want - I think the cans of Clearview paint are about £12 each.
I still cant keep the pic up for more than a second
I think you may mean the bit of brown round the edge where the door is open? Thats nothing to worry about at all.
But do get it fitted properly and signed off wont you.0 -
Brilliant thanks hethmar. I will update with pics if anyone is interested once DH has retrieved it for me. He likes the colour so will try and match that and just as suggested wire brush the rust off. I am very excited.

You could still freshen it up with the same colour paint if you wanted to.
I lit our 400 about 6 p.m. tonight as it was chilly - we have various wood piles round the gardens and I chose some logs a few years old now. You use some single sheets of newspaper, tie them into loose knots, put them in the stove then some kindling and light it with both the drafts (the round spinner thing and the pull out thing that looks a choke) open fully when its going well add a log - get yourself a thermometer on ebay - on the clearview it should be on the top of the door - not on the stove pipe - I get it up to about 450 and then close the spinner and close the choke down slowly. Ours then stays about that temp all evening. I noticed tonight that Id had just one log on for over an hour which is great. Get your wood stocks in now ready and buy seasoned stuff.
Its very satisfying to see neighbours either side have their central heating boilers going and we have just a few logs keeping us warm
Oh and wonky is right, get yourself a gauntlet - a thick gardening glove will do if you have one handy - as one thing with the Clearview is that the handle does get hot and you dont want to burn yourself as you open it to bung on another log.0
