I got the following:
Plenty White Kitchen Towel 6 pack £5.26 at S but £3 at A
Lake District Cheddar 400g £3.99 at S but £2 at A (Also BOGOF at Sainburys, but I don't need that much cheese!)
2 X Dairylea Dunkers £4.36 at S but £1 at T
Queen of Shaves Razor £3.99 at S but £2 at A
Birds Eye Petits Pois 1.2kg £2.95 at S and £3.00 at A
Marmite 125g £1.51 at both
You appear top be selecting comparison prices at a mix of Tesco & Asda. I dont think this is how it works. The comparison is against if you bought the WHOLE basket at either Asda or Tesco ?0 -

I had targeted my basket so that I could take advantage of what's on offer in the other supermarkets (and I had some coupons to use up). There were two people ahead of me in the queue, one got a voucher for £0.05 and the other got one saying their shopping was cheaper in sainsburys than in the other two.
The voucher has no details on it - just says "Sainsbury's Brand Match £7.67 off your next shop"
I don't drive and live a 2 min walk away from Sainsburys but two buses away from the other big 3 supermarkets, so had hoped that shopping like this would mean that I could take advantage of the special offers that are on in the other shops without the time it takes to get across town, but I'm not convinced that the voucher I got back is accurate.
I'll give it another go before making my mind up, I think
I guess you definitely bought the stuff with the biggest differences in price then! I cant believe the price difference in the Dairylea dunkers, do Tesco have an offer on?
with the bogof on the cheese, I guess if you had got the free one, then it would have had the quantity down as 2, and therefore been the same as the asda price well within 1p and then you wouldnt have got the money for that - but then you would have more cheese lol. I suppose stuff like that works only if you know what the deals are in the other shops.
For me it will be useful because I shop at Sainsburys anyway, but occasionally do a trip to tesco, and will be nice to know Im getting the same prices.0 -

Ah ha, I didnt realise that either. That makes much more sense and would probably work out right then.0 -

I only went on a till to relieve queues for 20 mins today as I was on trolley duty. The biggest saving print out was for £7.82 - that was for a £48 shop. The customer did buy some toothpaste and mouthwash as all dental products are half price to Tuesday.
The biggest money off coupon printed was £1.25.
I bought £25-26 off stuff after work - £14 of it were on DVDs. I bought some frozen fish for 51p which should be £1.99 as being discontinued. I was confirmed my shopping I saved £2.21 in the branded goods I bought. The fish was branded. I'm not too sure if the fish was part of the £2.21. The other branded things I bought were yoghurts, biscuits, condiment sauce and cheese.0 -
What do you mean how they calculate it, if tesco or asda stock the item you bought then its included but it muct be same pack size.
Use Coca-cola as an example. Sainsburys may have the offer as 2 bottles for £3. Whereas Asda may have it for 3 for £3. You would only get the difference back if you bought 3 bottles, not 2.0 -
I was in Sainsbo's today. They seemed to have more stuff discounted than usual? Anyone else notice that at their store?
Nearly all the branded stuff I bought was on offer so I received a non-voucher stating my £24.15 shop was "£3.79 cheaper here today"0 -
Easy enough - just put through your shopping in 3 £20 transactions. The first being any branded items that are cheaper at Asda plus non-branded shopping to take the total to £20, the second being the same for Tesco and the third being anything that is on special at Sainsburys that week. Obviously you need to make sure you buy the correct quantities of the competitor products to reflect their bogofs etc and most importantly make sure than any thing brabded on offer in Sains such as BOGOF is put through seperately as the price difference is netted over all (well all first 10) branded items.
I think it is actually pretty poor given the restrictive T&Cs so I hope we get a nice thread going and take them for as much as possible. I still smile when I remember how Tesco spent a big chunk of their marketing budget proving that they were more expensive than Asda
Is there an iphone app to tell you what items to put in what basket? Could spend all morning at home figuring that out before you go to Sainsbury's otherwise.0 -
hurricanewyn wrote: »I've just done a shop now. I spent £22.06, but used some vouchers I had to reduce the price to £18.30 and got a voucher for £7.67 back.
But..... looking on the other two websites, my calculations show I should have gotten £9.55 back. Has anyone any ideas on how they calculate the difference?
It is DEFINITELY the difference between the WHOLE shop from Asda or Tesco. My voucher was about £2 less than I expected so I went back and added all the Asda prices together and guess what....it was the value of my coupon. I had originally calculated with both Asda AND Tesco prices TOGETHER...!:(0 -
This seems quite easy. Buy shopping but anything on special put to one side of the trolley. When you go through the checkout put everything through that is Sainsburys own products and everything branded that is NOT on special offer. You should get a voucher as long as the shop adds up to more than £20. Pay for that shopping then put all the branded products that ARE on special offer through. You won't get a voucher on that shop but you can spend the one you just got.
If you wanted to optimize it then you would need to spend time looking up the price differences and for the £2 saving being missed in the last post I don't think the time spent would be worth it.:footie:
