I know Mr T are selling these cheaper than Sainsburys as saw an advert in a newspaper yesterday
. Cathedral City - Tesco has this on BOGOF (£3.99). Sainsburys is 2 for £6
. Muller Corner 6 packs - Tesco has this on BOGOF (£3.28) . Sainsburys has this for £2 each. Buy 2 at Sainsburys
If you buy Sainsburys branded stuff, f&v, TU clothing, DVDs, CDs then buy 2 packs of CC and Muller - you will get a coupon for £2.73.0 -
Really I'd just rather they had items on special offer, and I hope this scheme doesn't mean there will be fewer traditional bargains in Sainsbury's.
Why would that happen? Sainsbury's are going to do the same offers as they did before, they have no reason change. Have Tesco's and ASDA reduced the number of offers?
They could just match the offers in store but this way they can have the best of both worlds. They can say they're matching the other two without having to offer it to everyone. Everyone can benefit but they're not going to draw attention to it either. Win-Win
If you're willing to spend more than £20 it's a better deal than Tesco's and while it's not as good as ASDA, it's a lot less hassle.0 -
Is there an iphone app to tell you what items to put in what basket? Could spend all morning at home figuring that out before you go to Sainsbury's otherwise.
I don't see the point in spending time working out what to buy... Surely, what this system means is that you can buy the items that you need/want, and when you get to the checkout you know that it is costing no more than it would have done at either of the other two supermarkets ???
So actually it should take less time than before to work out what to buy. We might be able to go back to making a shopping list based on what we need, rather than making a list (and weekly menus) based on what the supermarket has on offer this week.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Exactly!
The focus on working out how to get the most money back only really works if there is no option other than to go to sainsbury's, and you have enough storage space at home to stock up on items that are on offer elsewhere and therefore 'on offer' in sainsbury's also.
Also, don't forget this is only on branded goods - the winners will still be those who buy mostly supermarket branded stuff which will still (in general) be cheaper overall.
And, the biggest winners? Sainsburys. good for them!0 -

it matters because you can (potentially) get a bigger discount if you separate your shopping into two different baskets ( 1 - items cheaper at Tesco , 2nd - items cheaper at Asda ) . It up to you wether you believe the savings are worth your time and effort to work out.0 -

Quite. It's the old story - if you are time-rich and cash-poor (retired or whatever), then you might as well take the time to faff about to get the maximum discount.
I'm a working mother (with 2 jobs), so the time/effort it would take with relatively little reward (less than a couple of quid difference?) just isn't worth it.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
I use the My Supermarket site now for online shopping - gives you alternatives re price/calories and also compares costs in the top supermarkets.0

This is where they are really covering themselves
14. What is the maximum number of items I can buy of one product and still qualify for Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons??
In order to ensure that everyone is given an opportunity to buy branded items and we don't run out, Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons will only be issued to the first 10 purchases made of identical items. Where a promotional item is limited to x per customer that will be the maximum number we will include in Sainsbury's Brand Match. Please remember the maximum value of a Coupon you can receive is £10 (see question 15).
15. Is there a maximum Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon value?
Yes, the highest value Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon you can receive is £10. We are confident that very few, if any, customers will purchase branded products that in total are more than £10 more expensive at Sainsbury's than at Asda or Tesco.)
This product "Ariel Excel Gel Bio 1036Ml" is currently cheaper at Tesco £5 than sainsbury's £7.
So if I buy 5 at £7 from Sainso's, I should get a £10 voucher, unless there is a maximum limit on this product?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Yes! (or just go to Tesco and buy 5)...this is where I get confused as to how this can ever MAKE you money..?? lol :rotfl:0 -
My mum is retired shops at Asda and asks me how much (item) was in Sainsburys. I say with staff discount it's (price). My mum says 'They are selling that in Asda for 5p less'.
My mum doesn't understand that I work full time, finish at or after 7pm most days I'm in. I haven't got the time or the energy to shop at another store after work. Plus with the cost of fuel, I am not driving 7 mile round trip to save pence. If its a bottle of spirits and I am saving like £5 - that's different.0
