MSE News: Sainsbury's to launch 'Brand Match' scheme. Is it any good?

  • Had the same issue, apparently ASDA describe the product differently from Tesco and Sainsbury, even though it is identical - I've been promised full voucher value, but I wonder how many similar branded products will suffer from the same "confusion". Maybe time for the brand match to be verified by the manufacturers barcode, as this is unique to the actual product...

Ive been twice now. First time I got a thing saying my shop was £4ish cheaper by shopping there, and then yesterday the same but £5ish. Probably because I mostly buy Sains own label stuff, or branded stuff that is on offer anyway :)

    I did get a £5 off a £50 next shop voucher though

I think this "Brand Match" is a bit of a scam.

I am a regular Sainsburys shopper (mainly because of the convenience + parking) and buy a mixture of "brands" and the Sainsburys own "Basics" label.

Whereas the checkout lady tells you how much you`ve saved on the "brands match" promotion, they don`t tell you how much Sainsburys have increased their "Basics" prices since the beginning of the year

Examples from today`s shopping include Rich Tea Biscuits were 25p ...now 34p

    Mixed Herbs...were 14p ..now 20p

    Cola...was 54p ...now 60p

    Washing Up liquid 34p...now 40p

    Ibruprofen..was 21p...now 28p

    Orange Juice was 54p...now 68p

    Bran Flakes was £1.79....now £2.07

    Toilet rolls..were £1.49 ...now nearly £2

    ....and lots more

The increases are certainly higher than the current inflation figure.
