tie your bumpers together with fishing line, so when they drive off they pull your bumper off your car.

But seriously - you telling me that you wouldn't want at least an apology for their lousy parking?

If they've got into a space only 3" bigger than their car then I think that's pretty good parking. Most people seem to struggle getting into a space 3' bigger than their car.

If you lived in the places I've lived then you'd find that's pretty standard parking. Spaces are tight so you have to get into anything that your car fits in. If that means touching the cars in front and behind then so be it. This person has obviously parked where there was a space, maybe they're used to parking in a busier street than you are and parking that close is normal. They've done no damage, so there's no issue.

I've just seen it's a T reg escort. Mk6 facelift escorts are about the easiest cars in the world to park. Mine regularly used to go in spaces quite literally 6" bigger than the car.

  • People round here do it all the time. Park their car in a space/gap that you can get two cars in. Instead of backing up or going forward a bit so another car can actually park as well. It is just lazy and bad manners.

Clearly it wasnt a "non space" as they parked in it, had you parked sensibly,i.e. leaving a two foot gap then ths would not have arisen.
Are you by any chance the sort of person who needs two parking spaces for one car?

I thought in France the culture was to leave your handbrake off so that people can gently nudge you out of the way, thus allowing for more efficient parking.

I've seen that in operation in Paris. Problem is that gently is a bit subjective and gazebo says the bumper was actually pushed in.

I saw it last week in my street in South London. A Fiat Panda (with Spanish plates) used this technique on my wife's car - nudging it back about 3 inches with the handbrake on so that's not exactly gentle... I alerted him with a thump on the driver's window and suggested he use the larger space all of 3 car lengths away.

And before anyone thinks of criticising my wife's parking - the space the Panda was trying to use was actually the entrance to the neighbour's garage with dropped kerb.
I need to think of something new here...

My old Celica was absolutely pristine when I bought it and the numpty drivers on my street had scraped/dented all bar one corner within a year. I actually caught one of them hitting it once and got a load of abuse for telling them to be careful (didn't do any damage that time). They can bash my current vehicle as much as they like as it has bull bars one end, a trailer hitch on the other and a side impact would result in them hitting the chassis rails (aka steel girders). :p

There's space for 4-5 cars on the section outside my house and more often than not there will be 3 taking up all the space.

Pictures of the parking would have been entertaining - perhaps tomorrow ? if there's a repeat performance

    I'm hoping there won't be a repeat :-)
  • If they have hit your car, it is an accident (or deliberate). In such instances, they have a case to answer and if they drive off without notifying you, they are in deep doo doo if you want to pursue it.

You presumably have pictures and their registration. Go to Plod if you want and let them entertain this clown who thinks it ok to damage a car and simply drive away !

Maybe they parked first and the one behind nudged them forward into yours.

Exactly, that's an exageration to say the least, a porky infact. No one could park in that sized space.

You sure you didn't forget to put the handbrake on OP????:A
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
