Clearly it wasnt a "non space" as they parked in it, had you parked sensibly,i.e. leaving a two foot gap then ths would not have arisen.
Are you by any chance the sort of person who needs two parking spaces for one car?

I fail to see how you can condone parking against someone's bumper, what if the person in front did the same thing?
I can tell you what would happen, because someone did it to me in France a few years ago. We parked up, sensibly, and returned a couple of hours later to find cars at both ends, parked against my car.
Solution: Pick the smallest car, Peugeot 206 in my case, and reverse until it moves, which it did, as well as the bumper crumpling slightly and the bonnet popping:D - no damage to my Mondeo I should add.
I then drove off, leaving a slightly dishevelled looking Pug, and an irate Frenchwoman waving her arms at me.:rotfl:
Morale of the story: If you can't take it, then don't try to dish it out.;)

I thought in France the culture was to leave your handbrake off so that people can gently nudge you out of the way, thus allowing for more efficient parking.

I suspect the OP may be exaggerating just a little, but it's perfectly possible to squeeze a car into a space only a foot longer than your car, without hitting anything, especially in modern cars with rounded front and rear bumpers. It depends on your skill level and how desperate you are for a parking space. I've been doing quite often lately in the on street parking next to the local hospital.

I do, however, try to leave an equal amount of space front to back, unless one of the cars is at the end of the parking area and thus can drive out. In this situation they get about a 1 inch gap so as to maximise the space available for the other car to get out.

Inefficient on-street parking is another pet hate of mine, especially people who park at the end of the parking area but park 3 or 4 feet away from the start of the double yellow, reducing the capacity of that area.

Bumpers are meant to be bumped. Hence the name......

I am not exaggerating at all - seriously, I couldn't believe what I was seeing either.

The fact is - car behind was parked IN my bumper - with it being pushed in, the car behind that was no further than 3 inches away from the back of theirs.

And yes, it's my pet hate too when folk don't park efficiently in designated bay parking at side of the road. At the moment, things are not helped by the gas van which is digging up the pavement and has blocked several people in - but that's a different story.

I know folk won't believe me, I know folk will feel it's me at fault, but really, if you didn't see it and I didn't take a picture of it, what else can I do than say, it's true?

for what it's worth - I took my note off the windscreen, but did notice the medication packet on the dashboard with a name on it, and I have the reg plate.

No harm done, bumpers are for bumping, but parking up against them and leaving yourself in that postition is a step too far...

as for it being a modern car with rounded edges - it's a T reg for escort

There is no way they got into a space which was only three inches longer than their car.

Maybe they parked first and the one behind nudged them forward into yours.

that is a possibility - short of parking like the you tube clip, I don't understand how they managed it. Either way, it did annoy me slightly.

My car is now a safe distance away from their car,, with enough room in front for another car or van.

This is just a whole new level of crazy though

    Buy a cheap banger.
Then you simply stop caring about such things and get on with the important things in life.

Like finding the smallest space you can physically fit your car into.

my car isn't much older than the one that was in the back of it - but I take your point.
