  • I have labradors and they would eat anything but I do like them to have a pretty decent food as I like to think it keeps them a bit fitter and healthier (the same as us really - if we eat good food its good for us).

Totally agree .... when Ben arrived I asked what he was fed on (to keep it the same while I swapped over to my usual dog food) and was told "oh, whatever's cheapest when I go to the sm" Honestly, 3-4 months later, after being on a good quality (not full of junk food) - he was actually a totally different colour as his coat had improved so much.

Do you mean you do triathlons?

    Oh my lord .... no!

I used to do a lot of stuff when I was younger but too arthritic now! Got the bike through one of those cycle scheme things through work (tax/ni rebate through it) with the intention of getting fit again ..... not been out a lot due to waiting for surgery / having surgery / still recovering from surgery :( Hoping I'll get on it a bit more soon .....

I picked up a rescue dog once from the owners who fed her on something that looked like rabbit food, I was told it was Bakers - full of e-numbers, colourings - it was like feeding smarties to kids and she poo'd bright pink :o

Dogs - bless 'em. When I took Millie home, she'd been starved etc so it was light meals while she got back up to weight. And I must say, that for someone who'd spent time on the streets and had come to me all neglected and skinny, the little toad sure got picky about her food...I went through several recommended options before she settled on one she liked. Never turned down a gravy bone from the postman, or a pig's ear from the nice lady at the local pet shop though!! :rotfl:

I feed the cats Royal Canin biscuits but I must confess the stuff I have stocked up on is the naughty wet food. It's not terrible stuff (I fed Big Cat with whiskas when I first got him, and he got dandruff:eek:) it's not great for them either but they cry if I don't give them it. Especially Tiny Cat.

Whenever I take them for their boosters, the vet always tells me they are in top health with lovely coats and teeth, so I am happy. I asked him about the wet food and he confessed that he fed his cat whiskas because she would rather die than eat anything else.:rotfl:Cats are quite different from dogs, the owners don't choose what cat food they buy, the cat does.:D

So not a lot going on today.

Feeling irritated that I joined Retail Eyes last week and still haven't had an assignment.

Went to the dentist - £17.

£1.19 in charity shop for some knitting needles. Thought I might give it a whirl. I'm sure I'll last 5 minutes. I'm hoping it will occupy my hands to stop me shoveling food into my mush.

Have just set up standing orders so there are now weekly payments going to 4 of the 5 credit cards we have. At present I am just paying £3 on these standing orders until the overdraft is gone, but I wanted them all set up ready

When the overdraft is paid off I will put my plan into action. Which is that I will have standing orders to pay off the minimum amount each card but every week. So instead of 1% every month, I will be paying off 4% every month (4% of the current debt, I won't reduce it as the balance goes down). So the longest it should take me to be debt free should be 25 months. I have found juggling 5 credit cards quite stressful and last year I lost the 0% deal on one card because I didn't pay on time and I do not want to risk that. This way I will know exactly when each payment is coming out and know that I am easily meeting the minimum obligation.

Note to self, need to set up the Santander one tomorrow when I find out which of the two has the balance on it. (one is clear, so I don't want to send money to the wrong one).

    Goodnight all:)

  • woohoo very organised!
As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again
  • Hi Banwa,

There you go with our bizarre paralell lives again, I went to the charity shop the other day and saw knitting needles and very nearly bought some with the idea of giving it a go :D I didn't in the end because I have got a clue where to start :p

My dogs get posh treats every now and again by a company called fish4dogs and they are pure fish bits, skins etc. I do think this contributes to their shiny coats and like you, no one can believe my old bird is nearly 10, she looks and runs around like a loon and people think she is only 2 or 3 ;)

Knitting Nora, they are gross aren't they, mine go crazy for a pigs ear or a bulls pizzle YUK  I have had fosters that have been really skinny and have had to be fattened up, I remember having a foster last Christmas that had to wear a jumper as he was a pup and was so badly starved, people gave me filthy looks in the street - I asked the rescue centre if we could have jumpers that stated they were already rescued and I wasn't neglecting him :o

Have you done any running? ;)
    Just keep swimming!
  • lol i don't have cats, but my mum does and i bought her some food for them in a cash & carry and they refused to eat it  ! They are so fussy they will only eat one brand and would rather starve themselves (and they have done until they get what they want!) haha.

Am feeling unsettled about an exchange I had with Mr B tonight. He was talking about the short day he's got tomorrow. I asked him how many hours he has done this week and it turns out not many. I said 'oh'. He said 'well thanks for sounding so disappointed'. I said 'well what did you expect'. We haven't really spoken since.

Not a blazing row by anyone's standards, this is about as heated as it ever gets between us, but I am unsettled because he doesn't seem to mind. Doing fewer hours is nice, provided it's a one-off, but it has happened loads lately, and I am worried and he knows I am. He'll get paid about £70 less next week. If it's all the time that's £3500 less in our pockets (or to our creditors) over a year. I don't want to be in debt any longer than we have to, I hate living like this. I feel like I am doing everything I can. I am working really hard in my job and I am now paid £12k more per year than I did when I started, I worked every weekend over the summer and loads of extra hours over halloween, I stick to a food budget and am thrifty round the house, I shop around for everything. I feel like I am keeping my side of the bargain. He had a huge loan when I met him for £15k and we have never managed to get the debt lower than £15k, plus we pay maintenance for his children. He needs to be earning more, he needs to be paying his share.

Please can no one quote this post, because later on when I am calmer, I will come on and delete it, because mostly I have it good with Mr B, he is a nice man and he is hard-working when the work is there to be had. We do have a happy marriage, I just needed to get this off my chest.
