UPDATED IN BLUE
The children got back at 8 tonight.. DS3 was bouncing off the walls.. I brought the children in, got the younger ones up to bed aked DS3 for his diary... he has missed both tea time readings and today hasnt done his insulin so his bs is 3.5 times what it should be and he is being vile!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I rang KH and he said he had told him to do it.. but DS3 insists he didnt.. I dont know what to believe but experience says KH is lying.. One day every 3 weeks the nurses are both off call.. guess when that one day is.. today!!! lol.. typical!
The nurse was supposed to be going on Friday and Kh cancelled on her... I sent a list of the times he was supposed to bloods and snacks and meals and insulin and the doses and he still ignored it..
Back on the phone to the solicitor tomorrow.. and DS3 is simply not going to be allowed to go again.. so we will probably not be going to visit OHs family in 2 weeks time either.. OHs dad hasnt seen the girls for 5 weeks already!
UPDATED IN PURPLE
The nurse rang KH and is going to give him further support and training and discuss with him further the implications of DS3 not having the correct regime and the importance of his many meals and also what not to feed him (like packets of chewits and kitkats!).
The children are going this weekend.. DS is taking snacks with him.. and a list of when he should do bloods and eat so there is no confusion for anyone! and I have made sure there is a full set of meds there too so he has no excuse.
We are staying home this weekend so if DS3 wants to come home or needs something he can ring me and come home or Ill go get him.. he can use DD2s mobile if KH wont let him use his
Hopefully!! Everything will be fine, his bloods are still unstable and high so a hypo is not a worry at the moment.. and we are back to hospital tomorrow
If DS3 doesnt want to go after last time he will not be made to! (nor will any of the others but he is most justified at the moment)
**************************************
(Normally Id ring my mother but apparently I am in the dog house for some perceived crime against humanity.. judging by the lack of contact)
Our 12 y/o was diagnosed 10 days ago with Type 1 diabetes.. he was rushed in barely conscious with ketoacidosis and was in for 4 days.. He is currently on 2 injections a day and 4x blood checking.. He hasnt missed a single one or any of his 6 meals/snacks a day.
He went to morons house on Friday after school.. and got back about 50 minutes ago (2 hours later than they should be back!! but that is merely one more gripe in the list)
He has not been allowed to get any snacks and has missed 4 of his blood checks.. in the broad scheme of things he is still ok, blood sugars are really high, but !!!!!!.. what is KH thinking (or not?!?!) His brother and sister both have diabetes he KNOWS how important this all is and has repeatedly argued with his brother about him not taking it seriously or keeping to the health plan.. then he neglects his own son!
I am ringing the diabetic nurse tomorrow and asking her to ring him and TELL him.. he was there the twice she told me what he was having and what his regime was so he cant pretend he doesnt know.. DS also has a book with it all written down in.
The children arent going to his for another 2 weeks... and I WAS meant to be going to OHs parents for the weekend seeing as they wont have seen the girls for 5 weeks by then.. now I am simply not going to allow DS to go to KHs (much to DSs delight!!).. hopefully the bloods will have stabilised by then and missing a snack/bloods may well be detrimental to his health..
In addition to this he hasnt made sure DD4 did her injection or DS2 his.. both are on growth hormone replacement! so while it is less damaging if they miss one it is his duty as a parent surely to ensure the meds are taken surely?
I am absolutely beyond furious.. and will be speaking to my solicitor on Monday as well as the nurse.. knowing someone is a kn0b is one thing but to put his own childs health at risk...:mad::mad::mad::mad:
To top it off.. he cant see them for 2 weeks as he has a party to go to the day he is supposed to have them!
Sometimes I would REALLY love to pummel his stupid face in!

I am diabetic and know all that goes with it, your son will not know yet so he should have been guided and was not and that is truly terrible:eek:
It has to be now the norm to check, to inject, to snack, he has to learn it, to know it, everyone around him needs to know how to inject, what to do in a hypo situation, it is a condition that can deteriorate rapidly and he needs all the help he can get, I would be:mad: too0 -
It is all still very new to DS.. he has aspergers too which doesnt help..
That is why I am angry.. it is our job.. mine and KHs.. as his parents to teach him and guide him and keep him safe and healthy.. and he has neglected massively in that duty.
It has scared me so Lord knows how DS3 must feel!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Can you provide him the snacks he needs and enough testing strips or whatever. I'm sure you do already but if he could learn to do it himself and keep track then he would be less at risk. The KH however does need a good kick up the !!!!, you have more than enough reason to be mad with him. Do the kids even want to go anymore?mortgage free by christmas 2014 owed £5,000, jan 2014 £4,170, £4,060, feb £3,818 march £3,399 30% of the way there woohoo

Aaaah sweetie feeling for you as a supporter of myself but also as the friend of a very severe diabetic. What is wrong with some people. Yes sweetie get the nurse to call him. I did the same with DD2 asthma nurse- made him realise. Unfortunately as you know hes stilll a t**t!! xxxxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Hi,

What a tw4t!!!
My 17yo daughter was diagnosed in Feb this year. It took quite a long time before her blood glucose levels came down to normal range (a couple of weeks). So please try not to panic too much about sugar levels. Ketones are the key indicator though. He should be checking for these alongside blood glucose to ensure he doesn't go into DKA again.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I would not have allowed him to go to KH's, given that he had only just come out of hospital and is still getting used to a major lifestyle change. He is still poorly. If KH objected, you should have referred him to the DSN. Is KH getting the information he needs to help your DS?
I have joined a group on Facebook for parents of T1 children - it's a great help whenever there are tough times or you have questions that might seem silly to ask the DSN (or inconvenient). It's a HUGE learning curve for everyone involved.

That's terrible! Doesn't sound like the father is capable of looking after the children on his own at the moment if he is going to do things like that.He has not been allowed to get any snacks and has missed 4 of his blood checks..
Would a MDI insulin regime be possible so he doesn't have to rely on snacks? I don't know if a child could calculate the right dose to inject at mealtimes though, it's hard enough to work out as an adult!
Sorry I don't know much about diabetes in children, I was diagnosed with type 1 as a adult (LADA), some things must be different in children, as they are so much smaller you must need to be so much more precise with the doses.0 -
