Thanks Cinny. When I changed to a Mac in my last job it took me three weeks to find the power switch :o That said, I loved it once I got used to it. Sadly I couldn't quite justify a Macbook! My new laptop is white so I feel like its a Mac wannabe! Windows 8 is totally bizarre though, there's no start menu or anything. The home screen has apps for photos. internet etc and you can toggle between that and the conventional desktop (I figured out how to do that eventually). I don't like being the first to have stuff, I'm just not cutting edge!

If I was buying a computer tomorrow I'd demand windows 7, 8 is a crock of poo at the moment. Mind you its still better than iOS.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

This is why I hate computers! If something works why not just leave it be? This whole mess began because I was trying to update my (stupid) iPhone so that Twitter would work again. Bring back the carrier pigeon I say!

I haven't even properly figured out Windows 7 yet so I won't be bothering to upgrade to 8, not that I know/care what the difference is. :o Happy new laptop though Shrimpy! :)

Just trying to sort out a new phone since it's upgrade time and I can't find the phone I want for the price I want to pay! Going to call my provider at lunchtime to see if I can haggle them down a little, I hope they play ball as I could really do with having a decent camera for my holiday and the phone I want will be ideal as it's got a cracking one. :)

Boss Lady at job number 2 has a Mac, and it takes me what feels like a lifetime to do the smallest task on it. But what's even more worrying is that I'm the most tech-savvy person in the company. I feel like a fraud (as I sit there sneakily searching "how to copy and paste on a mac" into my iphone :rotfl:)

What phone is it you want, Birdie? Our contracts are up in a few months and OH is so excited for a new phone.

I did fancy the Samsung Galaxy S3 but haven't seen any sensible contract deals for that so changed my mind and want the Sony Experia T which actually looks better for what I want. :) Just hope I can get a good deal for it! It's so tying being stuck to one phone for 2 years though... especially if the camera breaks after the first year like it did on my current phone! :o

Hope you had a lovely birthday weekend Wendz. :) That was very nice of your FIL-to-be to give you his laptop! :) Not so nice about MIL-to-be not bothering though.

Got my phone sorted now. Got a £33 contract for £25 a month (99p less than I'm paying now for more minutes and texts) and no upfront cost. Huzzah! So looking forward to having a working camera agan! I'm easily pleased! :)

Tete has Tweeted me (what did we do before all of these methods of communication?!) and she's OK. :)

Morning all, not having such a good day here to be honest. Haven't posted in a while but have had some bad news. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer just over a week ago. They are hopefully that it has been caught at a very early stage but I have to go in for my scan results this afternoon. I wasn't really sure whether to share it on here or not but I feel as though I could use any extra positive thoughts today if you have any going spare. I'm sitting at work at the moment trying not to go out of my mind :(

Gutted to hear that Shimpy, praying for good news for you this afternoon. I can't quite phrase this correctly, but a doc once told me they pick up so many more cases of all cancers nowadays due to increased awareness and screening methods, but it's actually a good thing, as 9 out of 10 of them are caught earlier than they would have been even a few years ago, so they don't need to be anywhere near as aggressive or invasive with treatment.

Didn't feel right to post our stuff in the same post, because to be honest it doesn't seem like any of it matters compared to just hoping Shrimpy is okay.

Our heating stopped working this morning, while trying to fix it I knocked a huge Bottlegreen bottle full of cordial onto my foot, so now that hurts like hell and despite wiping it all up, scrubbing with mr muscle and a sponge, then mopping my kitchen floor is still so sticky my socks get stuck to it. And the heating still doesn't work. Think the pressure in the system is just low, but an engineer is coming out this afternoon to fix it.

Had a complete freak out this morning as that disease they diagnosed Grace with that they're not all so sure she has, the fatal in first 6 weeks of life one except for potential rare mild form which they *may* have seen 5 times ever? Well I found an article this morning of a confirmed mild form case, only kicked in when the little girl was 8 months old. The good news is she lived near the world's leading paediatric lung centre and actually managed to get a lung transplant (although the life expectancy on lungs is only about 5 years in kids) but now I can't help worrying that what if they're right, Grace does have this, and in a few more month's she'll get too big for her damaged lungs to be able to support her any more. I feel like I'm never going to have the joyous new baby experience, there will never be a point where medical !!!! isn't at the forefront of my mind on a daily basis.

We've decided to buy my old car back off mum and dad, we don't really want to borrow loads of money off NIMs dad to get him a newish car, we've spent so long getting out of debt, we need to learn to live within our means. I'm going to ebay hard this week hopefully to make enough to pay his insurance, and mum has said we can pay them £100 a month for 5 months for the car. It's not the most economical at about 40mpg, but it does the job and that's all that counts at the moment. If we can afford to save for a new one for NIM then in time we'll do that.

I think you've made the right choice with the car Dinah, was worrying a little that you were taking 2 steps backwards there. :)

Sorry about the heating, ours died last winter and it was just awful, I ended up crying down the phone to someone and begging them to send an engineer because I was so cold and my little electric heater had just conked out! :o

There's not a lot I can say about your worries for Grace, other than step away from Google! Enjoy your gorgeous girl, she's proved that she's a little fighter and she'll continue to amaze us all I'm sure. :)

Thinking of you this afternoon Shrimpy xxx
