Whose blog? Mine is shoestringgourmet.blogspot.com.... currently writing today's post, got a bit distracted giving my mini-gourmet her first taste that isn't milk.... been weaning her on baby rice, she's not that interested, in fact we had a few tears and spitting, so I tried her with mango.... not only did the crying stop but I even got a smile.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Baby rice is rubbish. Sweet potato is a good one as has a bit more taste than normal potato. You can't just puree it though as it goes a bit funny. Poppy took ages to get into her solids and just wasn't interested for ages.
So exciting Cinny about the trying for a baby. I think its good to not think it will happen straight away then if it does its a lovely surprise.0 -
We were told to wean her on rice to get her used to the texture for the first week, but she seems a lot happier on mango, it's just low in calories. Might try mixing a bit in with the rice, see if I can get the best of both worlds.
I'm curious, what do you have to do with the sweet potato? I've always assumed all veg can just be whizzed in the blender or food processor.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

To be honest i did it in the blender just came out a bit funny.
Just found this on annabel karmel site:
Potato should not be pureed using an electric blender as it breaks down the natural starches and produces a sticky pulp. It’s best to puree potato in a baby food grinder or mouli – these are hand turned food mills which press the potato through very small holes to make a smooth puree. A baby food grinder is also good to use when pureeing foods like dried apricots or peas as it gets rid of the indigestible husks0 -
Right then, some of that money stuff has been going on that you might like to know about (or might not, I'll not judge, it's only a money site and all). I'm thrilled that between my inheritance, some ebaying and a couple of birthday cash gifts from NIMs dad and mum we've paid off the car loan in full!!!!! So thrilled about this. We now only have the one debt left, the Barclaycard. I feel so motivated to be on the home straight. Total to go, £7622.13.
Had a busy day today, been for a walk, had a lot of screaming (her not me, although I am very thrilled to be another debt down), had her first go at baby rice mixed with milk and mango puree... all good. I am a bit unfocussed and shattered though - Grace has taken to not really sleeping at night and just babbling away to herself. If the dummy falls out she cries. Last night she even woke for a bottle at 3.30am, which she hasn't done for weeks, and then wouldn't go back down so I ended up pacing the house with her for nearly an hour. I have a splitting headache and feel really sick as a result of another bad night's sleep and no real vision in my left eye, hoping it doesn't become a full migrane.
Heard back about the buggy yesterday, it can be fixed, £55 or the part and £10 for the man to do it, which is fine, except he's had this part on order for another customer for 3 months now, so we can't really hope it will be mended any time soon. Apparently Icandy are notorious for their appalling supply chain. Wish I'd known that before I bought one.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lol and just realised today is exactly a year to the day since we started trying to clear it again. £15, 903.63 paid off in a year? While on maternity leave? And had 3 months almost completely 'off' debt clearing while she was in hospital? I won't knock that.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That is brilliant about the loan! That is amazing how much you have paid off as well especially while being on maternity leave. Need to take some inspiration from you for our wedding/honeymoon.
Unfortunately they go through these stages of not sleeping. I had a non sleeper so got used to it but she is brilliant now. I know how knackering it is though.
We have been looking at honeymoon/family holiday and we are very close to booking a week in Barbados. So exciting as we wont have been anywhere hot in 3 years.0 -
