Hi all! Hope everyone had a nice weekend, mine went far too quickly!

Did you have a nice time at Fountains Abbey Tete? :) Wish we'd known about the floodlights thing, we were free/bored on Saturday night and we'd have liked to have gone and aren't sure if we'll get another chance now. :o We were there yesterday morning instead, feeling quite sheepish about the fact that there were people taking loads of photos and generally doing the touristy thing but we just go because it's a nice place for a little stroll and a pretty picnic spot! We're clearly spoilt! :p

Quite impressed that I actually put things on ebay last night! I was pretty sure I'd forget all about it again but actually made time to do it whilst OH sat by looking really unsure about me selling 5 of my fancy Barbie dolls because he's worried he's forced me into it. He hasn't BTW, I just wanted to get rid! :)

Most exciting thing for me this weekend (how sad!) was that we got a bookcase on Saturday for the spare room just to house my craft stuff; it's fantastic having it all in one place rather than piled up all over! Also looks amazingly neat and tidy now so I no longer feel embarassed about having the curtains open! :o Found some empty frames in the sort out so I have plans to make something nice to go in one of them this week, and if it works out I can make another one for a Christmas present, I can't quite believe that it's time to start thinking about it, but I have to get a wiggle on if I want another thrifty Christmas! :) I also really need to get working on Christmas cards, planning on making them to sell this year and want to have a stash ready to sell at work when I go back from my holiday on the 20th November! So all in all, a very crafty week planned for me! :)

    Afternoon,

Great news about Grace's weight gain.

Tete - hope you got some ebaying done and that you enjoyed your first week at a school. Will check out your diary in a min.

Flower - can't believe Noah is one, has gone so quick!

Birdie - well done on the ebay listing, especially your barbies . Hope you manage to make some money.

Had quite a nice weekend. Went down to see family and went for lunch with friends sat. We gave notice for marriage on friday and booked honeymoon/family holiday too. Ended up going for st lucia, really excited!

I am getting into christmas mode now, saw one of the shops doing their window display this morning down tottenham court road and made me all excited. I was going to make poppy an advent calendar with pockets but think i might wait till next year as she probably wont appreciate it this year.
  • Hi all :) Really enjoyed my week in the school thanks Wendz, have finally updated my diary now if anyone's interested in my musings!

Ah I second Archers' request for a Grace pumpkin! Went to see my cousin and her new baby (9 days old) Mollie yesterday-so cute, even though she blatantly filled her nappy whilst I was cuddling her _pale_

Happy belated birthday to Noah - don't know where the year has gone! Does it mean we're getting old?

Don't know where the weekend went, of course I didn't get any ebaying done - it would have been an added stress on top of trying to sort myself out before my holiday anyway. I have three days off work after getting back so I can hopefully catch up on some 'personal admin' then.

Fountains Abbey was good Birdie, they piped in monastic chanting which was a bit atmospheric!! It's half price on the evenings too, though not sure if you know a sneaky back way in ;) Can't believe you're selling some Barbies!!

How exciting about the notice for the wedding Wendz, bet it all feels real now!! I'm also starting to think about Christmas - want to handmake as much as possible but can't really think what!

Looked up your newspaper article online Dinah, can't believe how grown up Grace looks up on her feet! It's a lovely picture of you all :)

Oooh exciting about giving notice and getting the honeymoon booked Wendz! Can't believe how quickly it's coming around! Have you got links to show off?! :)

We don't sneak in Tete (not through want of trying in days gone by!), we've got NT Membership. :) Don't think we're going to bother with it again though as we've not had our money's worth out of it really and as nice as Fountains is, we don't go enough to make membership worthwhile. TBH, when we walk there from home, by the time we've got to Studley (the deer park just outside) and wandered round the lake, we're too tired to make the trek inside the grounds anyway!

Would like to know what you decide to make for Christmas Tete! I need help with an idea actually! Last year my Mum got me some long socks and they've got a really cool knitted-christmas-jumper-style pattern on the outside and pink fur on the inside (Difficult to explain, but they're made a bit like this). Can't really wear them as the lining and outside aren't well attached so they just seem to slip about but love the style of them and want to turn them into something but what?!

Feel like I'm really growing up, selling my Barbies! :o Did have a very weird dream with lots of dolls everywhere I turned though! Must be feeling guilty about it! ;)

Totally forgot about getting the paper yesterday! Just looked at the article too, and ahhhh look at Gracie! (And you guys of course!).

  • I'm always tempted by NT membership but there aren't enough properties near enough to make it worthwhile. If I lived in Derbyshire or somewhere I definitely would.

Not sure about the socks, only thing I can think is a wheat bag but you did something like that recently didn't you? Maybe a cafetiere cosy?? I was half thinking about making a peg bag for grandma but on second thoughts I can imagine going round and seeing it hanging from the fence all rained-on and ruined and I wouldn't be able to bear it. Pretty crochet dishcloths though definitely. Oh I don't know- on one hand I want to make little bits and bobs but on the other it's often cheaper and easier to buy something, esp if you don't think the recipient will really appreciate it. I'm getting very selfish in my crafty ways!

If Alnwick Garden & Castle were NT we'd definitely renew our membership, but it's not so we won't, there's just nothing else that grabs us that's nearby. There are a couple of things in York but they're not OH's cup of tea at all so we won't be going. :o There does seem to be a big North/south divide with NT properties, maybe they need to make it cheaper for people from the North?! ;)

Don't blame you for not wanting to make a peg bag for it to get ruined! I couldn't bear it either. I made wheat bags last year so can't really make them again. :o I'll have to look on Pinterest for ideas... although that'll be my entire evening gone if I start browsing on there! Pinterest has doubled my ideas and halved my productivity! :rotfl:
