Morning everyone :) How is everybody?

I have a social worker coming to interview me tonight and I'm really nervous and I don't know why! :o My ex's parents are applying to become foster parents and I am one of their references, I filled out the form but apparently it's standard procedure to also interview all referees. I am sure that his parents will be fantastic at it so why am I so nervous?!

Tete - thank you for the advice on Stylecraft yarn, it's working up lovely and soft. Just one question - have you ever returned a colour because it totally doesn't match the sample on the screen? I have 6 balls of what should have been burnt orange and the only way to describe it is day-glo! As OH not so helpfully said, oh are you crocheting a hi-vis jacket? Just wondered if they are likely to take it back or say it's my monitors fault?

I wouldn't think you'd have a problem returning it Beccie, it's not what you wanted. People return stuff all the time just because they've changed their minds, and I'm sure they're used to people returning yarn etc because the colour's not quite right. :) LOL at you crocheting a hi-vis jacket though! :p

Hope the interview with the social worker goes well!

I can't believe how slowly this week is dragging, why is it not Friday yet?! :(

I know, can't believe how slow this week has been, roll on the weekend :)

Morning all, and another one longing for the weekend here! I'm off work next week too, yay! Although the downside is that I have a big pile of work to get through first, and most of it is annoying bitty jobs that I have been deliberately putting off :o which is why I'm procrastinating on here!

Feeling very self conscious today as I am wearing glasses for the first time ever - weirdly no-one has noticed/mentioned it but that just makes me feel more paranoid! Ha!

Nightmare on the purse Wendz, and how mean of the people at the barriers! I know they have a job to do and its probably the people above them that are the real jobsworths, but its still mean!

Hello - did I read right on FB that Grace comes home today? Eeeee!

I am hobbling about like a granny today after a 10k race last night, my hip is killing, think I need to give the running a bit of a rest.

Beccie, I seem to think I've seen people complaining about bright orange wool on the internet before! I'd imagine they'd exchange it for a more suitable shade if you ask, though I'm not sure they'd pay the price of the postage to get it back to them. Perils of internet shopping :(

Wendz that certainly does sound like a nightmare, how mean of the guards - you'd think they'd be able to tell the difference between a ticket-dodger and a genuine ditz ;)

We have been summoned to a meeting today about 'working location' - nothing too worrying but then at the bottom of the email it says the Head of HR will be there but not to worry - no jobs are under threat or subject to change. So of course now we ARE worried :o And if they are just moving our offices I'm dreading where they're going to put us. For all I complain about my no-windows-cupboard I do like the fact that there's just the two of us, it's nice and quiet and I can go on the internet without anyone seeing (because you know, I DO get my work done as well and I work bliddy hard). If we do go open plan I might have to take up smoking just to get my fair share of breaks in!

Edit - Shrimpy that's weird no-one has commented on your glasses! People always comment on mine and I wear them a couple of times a month! Maybe they think you might be self-conscious and don't want to make it worse, even though they are by not saying anything!!

Oh wow how exciting if she is coming home, they will be very busy if thats the case.

Hope the meeting goes ok, Tete. You always tend to worry even if they tell you not to. Well done on doing the 10k too, hope the pain doesn't last long.

Shrimpy - i expect people just don't want to make you feel self conscious. I always feel self conscious wearing mine as only wear them on the computer but no-one cares.

Beccie - i think meetings with 'important' people always make you feel nervous and you obviously want to give a good impression. What a lovely thing for your ex's parents to do.

I like your explanation Tete, although I suspect it's more that no-one is actually bothered! Admin staff in a uni are pretty much interchangeable as far as most of the lecturers are concerned. When my colleague and I switched desks, three people came in and introduced themselves thinking we were new! (in fairness, we had only been there a few weeks at that time)

Weirdly I have just found out about some room moves in our unit as well but its top secret at the moment, I only know because I do the administration for the head of planning. It won't affect me I don't think, but I would love to move to a quieter office, we are on a main corridor and aren't allowed to close our door (?) so its always really noisy. I really am antisocial at work! I long for a broom cupboard to call my own!

Hope Grace is coming home today, that would be amazing news.

Thanks Tete - will email them now and ask. If they do charge me the return postage I don't think it will be worth it though, will have to see. Oh well, if not, got any crochet patterns for hi-vis jackets or traffic cones by any chance? :D

Hope the meeting goes well - I would hate open plan too and also lock my computer whenever I go anywhere cause of all the internet windows I have open :)

Shrimpy - maybe people have noticed something is different but they're not sure what it is so don't want to say? Sometimes you know someone has changed something but you can't quite put your finger on it. I had that at work when I had my teeth veneered - people couldn't quite figure it out.

Wendz - it is isn't it. I think they'll be so good at it too :)

Hope that Grace is coming home today :D

Well, had our meeting - we're not moving office, we're moving campus. Positives: it's a lovely building with WINDOWS, lovely new offices, we'd still have an office to ourselves. Negatives: It'll add 25 miles a day to my commute (although they'll be paying a expenses at 40p per mile which in my Micra gives me a profit, although I'll be spending an extra hour a day behind the wheel), there's no gym/fitness classes, my dentist, hairdresser, optician and running companions are all in the town I work in now so that's inconvenient, the cafe facilities aren't as good as the ones here and the town centre isn't quite as good and is further away (although that might curb my spending a bit so could be a positive). Hm, not really sure how to feel really. Colleague lives there so he's saving his massive train fare every day and can leave the house at 8.30 so it feels a bit unfair that it's so inconvenient for me and so great for him- as it's not as though I don't commute as it is! Hmm.
