Hope you got in touch with the o2 lady, NIM! I think the brick sounded like a magnificent idea. It would have shown that you can think *outside* the box.

How's everyone this morning? Freezing at work because the boiler's on the blink, hoping it just naturally gets warmer later on. It's my Gran's Birthday so I'm off up to see her after work. Got a photo of me, OH and my Sister framed for her. Poor dear! Me and OH are on a challenge to spend £5 tops on people this year, having to think things through a lot more and everyone seems to be getting way nicer presents than last year.

Shes going to contact me "another night". Bloody frozen at work too, although I had to drive this morning as I'd left my bikelock in the FILs car, not a happy bunny.

Morning all, I'm a bit chilly at work too, I thought spring had arrived this weekend but it seems to have gone back into hiding! I second you on the windows Cinny, had them open Sat morning and it felt amazingly good!

I still haven't driven on the motorway yet so can't advise there, I guess pass plus is worthwhile if it brings your insurance down but it should drop after a year anyway so I don't know. I'm not going to do it, it broke me enough paying for driving lessons! I could cry when I think of all the money I've spent on them! Got there eventually though.

I would advise against the credit card too. I can't wait to be rid of mine, its too easy to have as a safety net. Nearly all the balance is 0% transfer but I still stick the odd 'emergency' thing on there, must put it in the freezer to resist temptation :( I need some threadie nudging back onto the straight and narrow!

Hope you got hold of the O2 women NIM, they are my least favourite company after Sky.

  • Speaking of motorway driving, there was something on the radio this morning about them bringing it in so learners DO go on the motorway - some bloke was ranting and raving about how many accidents it'll cause ... ummm so taking a learner onto the motorway with an instructor and a dual control car is more dangerous than having them have to encounter it on their own a week after passing their test? And it's not as though they'll be going out there on their first lesson, stalling and kangarooing along! /rant

Why don't you like Sky? They're my favourite company, I ring up like, every 3 months and pretend I'm going to cancel something so they put an offer on our account :D They'll catch up with me soon, we'll never cancel sky. We like wrestling and movies too much.

    Hello everyone!

I have a weekend off and there's loads to catch up on! Had a giggle about the Mama/Dada talk, like the idea of just talking about how great Mama is! ;)

If you think the Pass Plus will help then go for it Ruby *but* I'll agree with the others that the best way to get experience is by going out on your own after having a bit of a practice run with someone else in the car. After all, with the PP there'll still be an instructor telling what to do and you'll probably end up with a mental block about not trusting yourself to go it alone. Get out on a Sunday morning, the roads will be quiet so if you do feel the need to take it a little slow and safe at first you can as you'll just be labelled a 'Sunday Driver' ;) Motorway driving is a doddle compared to driving around a city! :)

I agree that Motorway driving should be taught during driving lessons too, it used to scare the heck out of me when I'd get in a car with a new driver to go on a road trip to have them admit as they were pulling onto the A1 that it was their first time on the motorway and they didn't know what they were doing! I was lucky that I'd had quite a lot of dual carriageway experience going out and about with my Mum whilst I was learning and went on the motorway within a couple of weeks of passing my test so never really got the chance to get worked up about it. What they need to do during lessons as well is make sure that drivers know how to drive in heavy rain, snow, ice, fog etc too as it's a bit much to expect people to just figure it out the first time they go out in it!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Heard a bit of it but didnt hear the bloke. Its one thing I wish had been on my lessons before I did the test but never mind.

Oh yeah, totally. But we can easily afford Sky, just if they're willing to cut the bill a little that's just a brucey bonus. Plus we've had HD for over a year now, when I watch 'normal' TV it looks really shoddy :o OH's even turned me into a blu ray snob.

Morning all. Spent the morning at a consultant appointment at the hospital, had a staggering 6 doctors/midwives in the room with me this time, not counting the two midwifes who had already weighed/measured/listened in/taken my fluids. Speaking of weighed - ARGH 71.9kg - never ever been this big but I refuse to panic as I know at least 8kg is essential baby baggage, and I can deal with anything that lingers aside from that later. My consultant was reluctant to increase my dose, even though my readings this morning were high, and have been all week, he still thinks I'm getting myself worked up with the scary machines and midwifes. The other doctor suggested doing a profile (basically either 12 or 24 hours where they take the bp every 30mins to see what it's doing) but he decided not to as there are no signs of pre-eclampsia. I kind of wanted to shake him and say 'do it anyway - I'm worried enough about this!' So he eventually decided to put up the dose and told me not to come back unless the bp rises.... he seems to think I went there this morning as Starbucks was closed and I needed something to do - yet I was sent there by the hospital's own midwifes. GRRRRR! Oh well, he did say Portugal was no issue so long as I take my medical notes with me.

I'm just so unlucky with them, they have messed our bill up many times in the past, when I moved we cancelled then decided to get them again in the new house as we can't get Virgin, and my broadband took over two months to activate as there was a problem with the order, but every time I rang they gave me different activation dates and didn't pick up on the problem... the cherry on the cake was that they took nearly £300 out of my account after I left for allegedly leaving my contract early when I definitely hadn't, when I cancelled I checked there wouldn't be a charge, they agreed to refund me but never did, in the end I had to get the bank to recall the payment. I just never seem to get any sense out of them!

I bet you wished you hadn't asked now, I always go on a big rant when anyone asks about Sky!

I heard something on the radio about people having to be accompanied for so many hours after they passed their test? Actually it might've been on Top Gear last night but I was only half listening. I hate having people in the car with me, it makes me nervous, I'm fine on my own though.

Thanks for all the nudges! Please keep it up, it may have to turn into light battery unless I pull my socks up!

ETA - cross posted, sorry you had such a bad time at the hospital Dinah, I know its probably a pointless thing to say but try not to get worked up about it for the bean's sake. If your bp does rise and you go back, can you ask to see someone else or does it have to be the same guy?
