All is good with me. I went for a job interview last week and got it so am delighted. As Dinah and NIM will know, jobs are few and far between in Ireland at the moment so I was delighted to secure one. Evie will be 6 months when I go back, and in an ideal world I would wait until she was 1 year, but it is only 18 hours a week. OH will mind them on a Friday and then it looks like the rest of the time would be evening work, so I won't really be away from them at all, and when I am OH will be minding them. Also, I get 2 months off every summer and although this is unpaid, I can claim jobseekers during that time, so theoretically when they are in school I will have every summer off with them, if I stay in the job. Am chuffed
That's fantastic CMD, congratulations, you sound like you've got it all sorted.
We're not certain we're going to take the MS holiday - we're going to discuss it tonight. We thought we could take it over the weekend so only using 3 days holiday, but it has to be taken through the week so 5 days holiday, and NIM isn't keen to use that many when he could take them once the baby is here. I can completely see his reasoning, but I'm also thinking it's only 2 more days than we thought originally and personally I'm banking on him getting another job sometime this year so his holiday would reset when that happened anyway, and I'd rather use it on a free holiday now than a few days around the house before the baby has even arrived (this is faith in him getting a new job, I figure sooner or later it has to happen and I'm being an optimist and putting my money on sooner).Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

hmm i know what you and Nim mean about the holiday its a tricky one! I get barely any at my job and OH gets a few more at his but at the moment I'm trying to save them a lot for later in the year really just in case anything exciting comes up! He will get paternity leave though right and perhaps (I know money is tight) a week off between jobs if he gets a new one and his notice period isn't horrifically long... Is the job hunt really on then? Good luck and fingers crossed something comes up soon!! Recruiters have been very good for us I have to say. usually despise them but they've been the best way to get a job round here.. Would you get paid for the MS as well or just get the free holiday?
Anyone seen Lara in a while?
Wendz its great that your parents like the venue and you've chosen a date!! So nice of them to put the deposit down too! I dont know how anyone affords a wedding with no help these days, everything always seems so expensive!! Its amazing that poppy wil be two by then - thats just crazy to me! at least it'll hopefully (i really know nothing about babies) mean she's old enough to understand a little of whats going on and she'll look gorgeous in a dress!!
I can't believe it's only Tuesday! But it is valentines day and we have nothing special planned maybe just dinner and a film at home and a few odd chores ha Anyone else planned anything more romantic/exciting?0 -
Well we talked about it and decided to go for it... then NIM fell asleep and I stayed up reading lots of online reviews and I decided I don't want to go! There was only 1 hotel I liked the look of, and it is fully booked now, but the area seems to have a bit of a mugging issue and I just can't justify using holiday for somewhere that sounds very not fun - as much as I would love a break. I figure if NIM does have to burn some holiday if he gets a new job hopefully it will be after the baby is here, but if it isn't then that's a clear sign we're supposed to book a cheap and cheerful last minute holiday somewhere in my books
He's going to speak to the company though, see if he can persuade the account manager to give us a heads up if these jobs become a regular thing and there is a trip to a different destination in the offing.

My friend's 2-year-old niece was a flowergirl at her wedding and she knew what was going on kind of, was a bit confused as to why we were all dressed as 'Princesses' but was happy to go with it! She did start 'sweeping' the floor in the Cathedral with her flowers though, was so cute!
Have you made a decision about the holiday Dinah? I'd go for it, but then I'm desperate for some sun!ETA: Cross posted! Good idea not to go if it's not going to be great, seems like they're just sending you in to complain about how bad it is!
OH was a sweetie this morning, he had bought me a card after all and put £20 gift voucher for a beauty salon in there, bless him! Feel a bit bad for not getting him anything now, but he said he was just following orders as I'd written on the calendar for today, 'Buy nice things for Birdie'!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I'm pretty desperate for the sun too - I love a good holiday, even cheap and cheerful has me smiling as it's just the time spent together somewhere warm and completely relaxed away from money worries and work. But it's really wierd, the last few days I've found myself a lot more of my old mindset (the one I was in when NIM said he'd move over when I cleared the debt) that I just want to get as much debt cleared before the baby comes as I can... I was really bothered about a last couple's holiday, but now I'm all excited for our first family holiday (in my head I can pretend NIM and the baby will go swimming for hours so I still get some time with my book!). Maybe it's not so wierd to think that way but it's been a big change for me.
Yesterday was a hideously expensive day. Money this month has not gone well. We're already out of petrol money (and then some, by about £60), we've overspent on the food budget by about £20, and will still need more milk and I forgot to add blinking coffee to the Tesco order which NIM needs for work. We were doing another low food spend month to clear the freezer, but we were completely out of both fruit and veg except for frozen mushrooms so I caved, weak justification or rational but I don't like the idea of not having at least my 5 a day atm.
Yesterday I spent:
£73 - diesel
£25 - hairdresser
£7.60 - eyebrows
£0 - optician ..... he should have charged me but didn't.... despite me trying to convince them that I was due to pay today. Now I feel like an optical thief.
£0 - dentist - loving the free dental atm, especially as I have to go back today for the hygienist as apparently I have very clean and plaque free teeth, but 'angry pregnancy gums'.. I'm not sure what the hygienist is going to do with those.
£6.75 - co-op, emergency fruit and a wobble where a bag of mini-eggs and some crumpets fell in my hands (I intentionally don't get a basket to avoid this kind of thing, but it happened anyway)
£4 - new passport photos, my drivers licence is 3 months out of date. Will still need to wait till after the 25th to apply for a new one. I look like I know something you don't know on the photos as I have a lopsided smirk.
£4.88 - Superdrug, savlon as NIM believes it cures all ills and cold sore cream as he's suffering and generally under the weather atm.
I don't think we have more than a few pennies left in the bank account tbh, which is bad when there is still a week till payday. The bills account is fine, and with NIM on the bike again the diesel should last us, but it's mums half term holiday and we're going to York tomorrow, and right now I have no idea how I can afford it. She does owe me £60, so I'm going to need to persuade her to give me at least some of it, but I know she was hoping to hold off till payday on that.
So, to do today.
1. Find and wrap brushes from attic
2. Wrap up bras to return
3. Check all ebays, risi and amazon for things to send - get them ready to post
4. Do 8 Vine reviews
5. Call HSBC to get new cards sent outDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
