Hi everyone, just catching up on things;
Hope the pram works out well Dinah, as I said my friend had that one and she was really pleased with it.
Hope you enjoy your weekend away Birdie. I've never been to Edinburgh and really want to go for the fringe festival. Maybe next year!
Shrimpy, I hope your interview went better than mine did. I won't be moving now which in a way makes everything a little better with the OH but it was like a dream job. Turns out they already had a new graduate in mind for the position and despite me having a MSc and a lot more experience working in mental health, that doesn't really matter. It always comes down to me and one other person, I just want to know what I need to do to be the person that actually gets the job!
Anyone got any good plans for the weekend? I'm off to stay with the OH, we've got a 30th Birthday to go to. It's fancy dress with a letter 'H' theme. I'm going as Hermione from Harry Potter and the OH is going as a Hare Krishna follower...Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Sorry about the job Ruby, that must be gutting to feel like it's not what you know but who you know even in the public sector.
Feeling like a bit infamous this morning. Opened a RISI book last night and was having a flick through 'Babies for Beginners' (starting at the back obviously, I was after the essential shopping lists not the blood and guts and pushing chapters) and after being mildly shocked and impressed by the MSE nature of this book which puts a cot or crib on the prefered rather than the essentials list (I quote "while this is the prefered sleeping arrangement, your baby will be just as happy in a well lined drawer") I went to the front where a note fell out. I'm used to RISI books coming with a vistaprint card saying 'thanks for the swap!' - but I was quite excited to see an actual letter. Turns out I'd requested a swap with a thready lurkerIt was really sweet to receive and perked me up when I've been feeling a bit miserable this week, so if you're reading, thank you.
At the doc again this morning (well if they're going to start charging to park on my high street I need to generate some alternative hang out spots), good news is no trapped nerves or anything serious, back and hip pain is just the usual fun pregnancy hormones making it all shift about and seperate ready for birth. She has put me through a physio referal though, and recommended I try to see an osteopath, so hoping to find my medicash policy covers those. Also going to call up and book a accupressure appointment see if that helps, as medicash definately pays for that and it can't make it worse really.
Got a very panicy call off mum this morning, granddad didn't have a good evening last night, and he's worse this morning, very confused and dissorientated - so she's taking him to the docs today I think she said so he can see what he's like during one of the down periods. Also apparently the hospital have been calling his house every day, several times, to get him to the 'head clinic' this week - but because he is currently living with mum and dad, and they wouldn't call mums mobile for patient confidentiality reasons no one got the calls. So the hospital consultant is going in specially to see him tomorrow morning (yes, Saturday! I won't complain about the NHS sense of urgency ever again) as he's off for a week after that.
I'm very on the fence about going with NIM to Liverpool today, on the one hand I would rather spend the time with him and it would be nice to see his aunt, plus we hate spending a night apart, however on the other hand I would rather be nearby tomorrow morning in case mum wants me for any reason or things don't go well, plus I don't think it's nessisarily the best thing for my back to spend so long sat up in the car.
Got all my ebay listings going last night, have many, many phone calls to make today. Would like to get a few more bits listed, but that means getting them out the attic and if I'm going to Liverpool that won't be happening. Will have to speak to NIM when he gets back after lunch.
Also in money news, I got the council to agree to a refund on the evening class places. So that's £90 back off the card (very much needed!).
NIM and I started the baby names process last night, we had our perfect boy name all picked out, it had meaning to us rather than just being a random name we like, and as a result we're finding it quite hard to make a decision as what makes one name nicer than the other? We're fairly sure we won't decide until we see her (mum said I was a Daisy or Charlotte before I arrived... I'm glad she didn't go with either as Daisy is too girly for me, and there were 3 Charlottes in my year - out of only 42 girls), but it would be nice to have a shortlist. We're pretty sure on the middle name(s)... but we just need to decide if we want one or two middle names. I wasn't sure if two was a bit much, but NIM pointed out he has three so I'm less bothered about that now.
Need to call T-mobile today too - my phone drops at least 75% of phone calls within the first 45 seconds of a call - it either mutes me or them or just ends the call - at the moment with things with grandad as they are, and obviously the potential to reach 40 weeks at some point adn have to make a phone call to NIM to say 'hospital - now!' it would be helpful to have a reliable phone.
Work have called me for an absence review on Thursday, fair enough. Can get the train over and it will be nice to see everyone at work, and my manager is very supportive, but I know our HR department are all about the numbers and couldn't actually care less that you have a sicknote so I'll just have to try to not get worked up about it while they try and badger me to sign some form to say I return to work against medical advice.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The weekend away sounds great Birdie, I would love to go to Edinburgh. I did see that OBEM, made me cry although i knew baby would be ok or they wouldn't show it.
Ruby - sorry to hear about the job. Fancy dress party sounds fun though.
Dinah - that book sounds great and one that will tell you what you really need. So sweet about the letter too.
Sorry to hear your grandad isn't too good but at least the consultant is seeing him tomorrow!
We had a shortlist of names although i think i had pretty much decided. I love the name Daisy but i do have a thing for floral names! I don't think there is anything wrong with having two middle names if you really like them.
Anyone got any nice plans this weekend?0 -
Hi everyone, I got one of the two jobs on offer, not the permanent one but secondment cover until the end of Dec, so still good news. Its the post I'm already doing now on a temp basis so no upheaval and peace of mind for a while.
Sorry to hear about your job Ruby, I had an interview last week where something similar happened, it was for a new role but as it turns out an identical role already existed but had run out of funding, so they had just created new roles attached to a different dept and shifted everyone across. I mean, fair enough but why waste peoples time holding interviews? Its just red tape isn't it? Still, in a way that's kind of how I got this new/current job so I guess I shouldn't throw stones from inside my glass house!
Dinah that is so sweet about your RiSi swap, you are an MSE celeb you know! Hello friendly lurker!
Good news on Edinburgh Birdie! I was there last year for work, didn't get to see much of it though. Saw the castle from a distance at night, all lit up and very pretty.
I am meant to be going out for OH's best friend's birthday tonight, weather permitting! Then dinner with some old school friends tomorrow night which is always great. That's so sweet of the lurker to write you a note!
Hello lovely lurker!
I love the Fringe Festival Ruby, hope to go during the summer again one year
Really sory you didn't get the jobIt annoys me when they interview you when they've already decided that they're hiring someone else, even if you are better in every way they have this idea in their head that *this* person has the job so you can't possibly be better suited to it. Totally unfair. Hope another dream job crops up soon
Oh and the H party sounds fun, you'll have to tell us what everyone dresses up as!
Dinah, Medicash does cover Osteopathy, either £360 if you're Gold, or £450 if you're Gold Plus
Can your Mum get BT (or whoever) get a divert put on your Grandad's phone so all calls go to your parents' house for the time being? Will be useful so they don't miss any more important calls. Hope everything goes well at his appointment
Well done on getting the job Shrimpy!
We've had the tiniest sprinkling of snow last night but nothing more. I'm glad, the stuff just makes me grumpy after the last 2 winters!
My plans for the weekend aren't majorly exciting, going to my friend's tomorrow to watch movies and sleepover (there may be a bottle wine in there too) and on Sunday I've talked my Mum into taking me up to Newcastle to go shopping and hopefully get the coat she said she'd buy me before Christmas! Think I'll need a good warm coat for walking around Edinbrrrrrr!

Will read back in a min but ARGH! I LOVE mystery shopping! We just got a 4 day holiday for free! Not somewhere I've ever had a burning desire to go, but heck if someone is going to pay us - it means we get our final little break the two of usDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Good news on the job Archers.
Your weekends both sound nice! I have got friends from southampton coming up here for the day tomorrow and we are going for a girly lunch with Poppy. My sister may or may not show up at some point too with her OH as he might be playing golf near here.
WE have had a bit of snow, still had some left from the weekend and had laid on top but not deep. Just about to attempt to push the pushchair through the snow to music group.0 -
Huge hug Tete. Sounds like you have been having a really stressful time. How are you feeling?
Dinah - I have the iCandy Cherry and iCandy Peach Blossom. Needless to say I am a fan!!! Both of mine were brand new but I hope to give the cherry away and sell the peach. The cherry doesn't seem to hold its value as much. I still use the cherry nearly every day or when there are 2 of us, so I can pop Evie into the pram bit (bigger than the peach blossom pram bit).
wendz - the headbands are mainly presents and from Next. I did buy some online from etsy and when I get a minute I will send you the link. Your venue is beautiful. I hope your friend & her baby are okay.

Think baby is recovering ok but might need to be in hospital for a week or more.
Hope everything is ok with you and your beautiful family cmd.0
