I thought it would be something silly for your bro Dinah, they were maybe making more of it because he's a young lad and perhaps not likely to go in if they said it wasn't life-threatening? I thought glandular fever WAS very contagious though? What's the 'kissing disease'?
My friend had one of those ultrasound thingies, they spent weeks early on in her pregnancy listening to the strong 'heartbeat' only for the midwife to tell her it couldn't possibly be that at that stage - they'd been cooing over the placenta noises!
We found my own heartbeat at 9 weeks, eventually found the babies at 10 weeks. It's SO fast it's hard not to know when you find it although we did have a few 'oooh is that it?' moments. The machine does say it's only reliable from 16 weeks - I suppose now the baby is mango sized he must have a pretty strong heart and is so big you can't really miss it.
Apparently by the age of 25 90% of people have had glandular fever, and you can only get it once. For most people you don't really know you have it, it's a sore throat and under the weather for a few days thing, but for around 3% of people it lasts longer than 2 weeks and comes with severe fatigue and stronger flu-like symptoms. SUCH a gross thought! That's why I'd never give up my car and go back to public transport!!
Yeah I think they were hearing a really slow sort of heartbeat sound and once they heard they real fast fluttery one they were like "Oh."Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Eww at inhaling saliva, I like to sit in the empty bit on the train to work so hope I avoid that.
Good news that you're going to get something Birdie! You can have a lovely holiday on that. How much did his injury end up costing him in terms of missing out on the stag do etc? It pretty much ruined his trip so they should cover all of that plus compensate him for the pain and stress. I loved badminton at school, where do you go to play? is it an organised thing or just turn up, I want to have a go again!
Just had 2 armfuls of jabs, and got my malaria prescription. Heading to town for last minute research for my presentation and a suitable haircut for formal interview situations and also 3 months of backpacking... could be interesting!
So exciting that your next scan is coming up Dinah, are you going to tell us when you know!?

Aww man I really don't like to think about inhaling saliva! _pale_ The Chinese have the right idea, wearing surgical masks outside all the time!
TBH Archers the injury didn't really cost OH much in real terms, he had to stay out of the sun and away from water whilst on the stag do which sucked but he's so used to being injured in one way or another that he didn't let it ruin his fun too much, he just gets on with things. When he could barely walk properly after his knee op he still managed to go to the club with his mates and dance on the podium, I'm surprised he didn't lose his crutches that night! :rotfl: *But* if it was one of the other lads who aren't as easy going and used to pain as OH is then it would have completely ruined their weekend I'm sure. He's still got scars all over the top of his arm too, with any luck they'll fade over time but it could take a few years and a lot of Bio Oil! Again, he's not as fazed by it as some would be, he's already covered in scars (mainly on his pretty face), if he ever got arrested it'd take them ages to note all of his distinguishing features!
With the badminton we play at the leisure centre, a group of people from work have been going twice a week for a couple of years now and they've just got a standing date with the centre and it's only £2 per 1hour session. I'm going to go once a week and see how I get on.
I hope you haven't paid proper prescription price for your malaria tablets! They're only a few quid from the pharmacyOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I need 4 months worth! Though looking online they are pretty cheap so hoping it won't be too bad.
It's good that he's tough but he still missed out and he's (even more!) scarred so I hope you something you're happy with
Urgh so much interview prep to do, this better pay off!

Make sure you take the malaria tabs religiously archers! I know someone who took them and still got it so also please be careful and use malaria nets etc!! Wouldn't want anything horrible to happen to you!
Few questions if I may girlies.. Firstly dinah, if you dont mind how much was your NYC trip? I'm trying to price up going sometime but you can basically spend as much money as you've got!
Secondly.. To all of you who dont like your brothers' girlfriends.. What kind of things is it about Her that you don't like ? I'm scared I'm one of these girls because when I See his family it just seems like we've been brought up very differently and we see things differently so I probably act wierd and disagree with things but when it's just us two were perfect and he sees things the same way as me.. I dont know I think I've got a bit paranoid but I'm really scared I am one of those girls0 -
NYC was about £1750 (can't remember the bit after the £17--) - but we paid for £1500 with Tesco vouchers. As you say getting there you can spend as much as you want really, we stayed 3* but on Central Park South, so very handy to get anywhere. Some of the package trips don't have you staying on Manhattan itself and I do think that would be a shame - if you go downtown a bit there are some very affordable decent hotels - I was looking on Trivago the other day and there are plenty for around £90+ per night. The expense of New York we found was once we were there, even 2 burgers and soft drinks in a random pub came to around £35. Breakfast wasn't included at our hotel either, so I can't see any way we could have done food and subway for less than £100 a day for two people. If you want to enjoy a few nice meals out or have any alcohol I'd make that £150. The subway is very affordable though, so it's easy to use it instead of taxis for most journeys. We loved New York to bits and would definitely go back, but we'd want to save up more in savings for spending money before we go next time.
My brother's girlfriend, she's just not happy if not the centre of attention. She strops, she makes my brother apologise for normal behaviour (most obvious example is the day she spent 6 hours not talking to him on a family day out with all of us as he spent 'too long' downstairs having breakfast leaving her alone in the bedroom), she won't attempt to eat what the rest of us eat, she has dual standards (there are pictures every week of her out in clubs dressed in what looks like underwear, yet if my brother goes over to his friends house for tea or the library without telling her there is war on), she calls him horrible horrible names when she's angry. Basically she's the complete opposite of easy going, and he is the most laid back person you can ever meet. He's a completely different guy when he's with her, very quiet, jumpy and defensive, and we all miss the vibrant, funny lad we're used to.
Had a nice time in London seeing my cousins, but come back with an awful tummy bug, currently trying very hard to get and keep a glass of water down. So no to do lists from me today, I'll be sat on the sofa reading threads and watching episodes.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I will tink!
I get abit worried like you too, I'm quite quiet and get scared I come aloof. But I figure I'm polite and not demanding, and I genuinely like them and I'm sure that comes across. I hope! They were laughing the other day as apparently bf went to kiss me goodbye in the car but I ducked out, can't be doing with PDAs even if they don't mind!
I think as long as its obvious that you have their sons/brothers best interests at heart you can't go wrong! You def can't be like dinahs bros gf! What a nightmare!
Hope you're feeling better soon dinah x

Tink, I wouldn't worry too much, there's a difference between being brought up differently to your OH and being a b1tch! If you make your OH happy and you're not controlling/high maintenance then I'm sure his family will see that! The sheer fact that you worry they don't like you shows that you're not an evil harlot out to steal their son from them!
My OH and my SIL have been brought up very differently to my brother and I, and yes, sometimes my parents are left scratching their heads at the odd things they say and do, but it is just down to every family being unique and nothing more sinister than that!
Tummy bug sounds nasty Dinah, keep your feet up, stay warm and I hope you feel better soon! Fingers crossed with air-people company, Birdie! Good on your OH for turning their first offer down, be good for Disneyland!Secondly.. To all of you who dont like your brothers' girlfriends.. What kind of things is it about Her that you don't like ?
I'm sure you're nothing like her Tink, at all! My Brother's girlfriend is very controlling and manipulative, to put it shortly. Like Birdie said, you being worried speaks volumes alone! Ours really doesn't give a toot, best I've ever got out of her even being aware how we might feel towards her was her b*tching about me because I stopped playing nice!
Did everyone have a nice weekend? Finally got around to properly dying my hair red on Friday, well, OH did it for me. I've trained him well!Used directions dye so it's all multi toned, goes from a dark red through lighter, to orangey and slightly yellow in places. Like fi-ya!
Hope you're feeling better, Dinah! I'm just getting over being off food, being doing basically what Birdie said. Biscuits and orange Lucozade!0
