WOW Birdie thats amazing, delighted for you.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

It was a very welcome surprise! When my manager started talking to me I thought she was going to say that I wasnt getting a payrise and they were extending my trainee period to 2 years like the trainees in other departments have to do so was very pleased with the result! OH is very pleased too, he says he's going to have to get used to having me pay for weekends away and meals out now that I'm earning more than him... hmmmm I don't think that'll happen, I don't want to emasculate him after all!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I'm really looking forward to it!
I hope that OH will have his settlement cheque by then too so we feel doubly loaded
We really need all this extra cash to get us back on track after such a spendy 2011; hopefully this is the year we get cards paid off and a little bit of money in the bank

Wow congratulations Birdie! That's excellent news!
And glad to hear you're feeling better Dinah, stomach bugs are never fun at the best of times but when your pregnant it must be awful!
Spoke to OH about the job situation at the weekend and now I'm even more confused than ever. He upset me because he didn't say definitely yes he would be willing to move, just that if he found the right job for him then he would move. When I started crying he got a bit annoyed, but then I explained that the way he was talking was as if he was willing to let us be apart for another 4 years because he wasn't saying "yes I will move if I find the right job" it was more like "if I find the right job I might move". Eventually he did say that he definitely would try to move, but to be honest it's causing more trouble than it's worth and in a way I don't want them to offer me the job. But then it would be a great opportunity and....I just wish it wasn't for so long!
Anyway I'll just go into the interview with an open mind and try my best and see what happens!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
A plumbing supplies business has an IT department that tests software? What the heck software do you lot develop?
If I told you I'd have to kill youLOL it's all internal stuff but we're a surprisingly large company with a lot of systems that need to be looked after, and that involves doing a lot of improvements to existing systems and sometimes new ones and it all needs testing before it gets sent out to a couple of thousand users... which is where I come in.
Sorry things are looking a little wooly on the job/OH front Ruby. Definitely go with an open mind and banish all thoughts of 'I don't want them to offer me the job' because they'll pick up on your reluctance and you said yourself it's what you want to do. Even if you do get the job, you're not bound to them for 4 years, it just means that they want you there for 4 years. You can always leave if it's not working out for you. It also doesn't mean that your OH will not live with you at all during the 4 years, OK, he might be wary about moving straight away but you never know what opportunities will pop up for him and it's difficult to predict how things will pan out 6 months down the line never mind 4 years! I guess I'm just trying to say, don't worry about it too much, go to the interview and knock their socks off with your brilliance! Maybe once it's a definite your OH will start to be a little more keen on moving with youOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. Yay Birdie, that's brilliant! Well done
Ruby, that sounds stressful with your OH, but please don't let it affect the interview - you need to go in there like it's the only job you've ever wanted and give yourself the best shot at getting it.
You can always make the decision to turn it down *when* they offer it to you if you don't want to make the sacrifice for your relationship. I think you're totally right to try to keep an open mind - if you go to the interview halfheartedly and don't get it, you might end up regretting it.
Tete, yay to NYC! I had exactly the same planned for my 30th but it didn't quite come together(don't let that happen!) But it was ok in the end as I used the money I'd saved for my India flight. And here I am!
Part of the deal was that I would job hunt and wedding plan during the day while my friend is at work, which is a good compromiseand it doesn't take all day - I spent this morning lazing by a 5* hotel pool (not where I'm staying - my accommodation is free:money:) and I have a driver!! My friend is taking me to Goa this weekend as a 'sorry-I-live-in-India-and-haven't-been-a-good-bridesmaid' treat - I shan't be using the internet there though...
hope you're feeling a bit better now Dinah and the lucozade and biccies worked their magic!
Exciting about wedding venues Wendz! hope the golf club is nicewe're paying £6.5k for venue and food, but would have been cheaper with a package. And we're having lots of food!
Ugh, Cinny you're SO gorgeous! Makes me feel sad to be a dowdy 30-something!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380
