Hi everyone, had so much thread to catch up on, I seem to have lost the last hour :o Good to 'see' everyone back again, I noticed you had gone quiet on Twitter Cinny and was a bit concerned.

I too am still working through the Christmas chocs but somehow managed not to gain weight over Christmas despite eating trifle for lunch on more than one occasion! Its too cold at the moment for my liking, need to keep all my insulation for the time being.

I bought a car a couple of weeks ago as I am working half an hour's drive away (lots of very big scary roundabouts to navigate!) so very much need to get back on the MSE waggon as the debt clearing has stalled...again.

It IS just fruit really though, trifle, isn't it? What car did you get?

Hi Archers, my 30 Day Declutter fell by the wayside a bit and we're way over 30 days now! Need to give it a final push though and maybe get some stuff on ebay for the £2012 challenge. Good luck with the presentation, sounds horrendous! (Sorry that probably doesn't help, but I hate public speaking!)

My fave purchase in the sales is this - I'd highly recommend fur coats to anyone who hasn't tried them - sooooo warm! But only really good for days like today when it's freezing but not raining...

Hello there Tete! Good luck with the £2012 in 2012 :) Fab coat, I had to quickly click away before I got too drawn into the 'Ooooh I could do with one of those' trap!

I was having a look on ebay last night pricing up some of the Barbie dolls I've got stashed away and inexplicably one is selling for around £90-100, typically it's the one that I actually quite like and would rather not part with but if she's going to get me that kind of cash I'm going to have to send her on her way! Eeeee I just looked on Amazon and someone is asking for £129 for her!!!

What on earth did you say about cushions for a whole half hour Tink?! Good luck with your presentation Archers :)

Feeling all frustrated this morning; got the Groupon getaways e-mail and thought, 'Oooh Florence for our anniversary would be lovely', grrr we'd have to fly from London and flights are silly money. 'Ahhh how about Sardinia then', no, still have to fly from London and no local airports go to Gatwick any more. 'Oooh how about Jersey then', no, the offer is only valid until 30th April and the airports don't start flying there 'till the end of May... meh, we'll just stay at home then. :(
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I've not found the getaways on any of the voucher sites all that good. Groupon is the best, living social is a complete joke - you can find the same accomodation cheaper in abut 2 mins of googling! We were looking at a little break, I really fancied a few days in Morocco as you can fly from up here, it's fairly warm and you can stay 5* for £50 a night and it's a bit different. But I decided to be good (spurred on my my graph where the lines are parting company quite dramatically!

Given I've come clean to you all about the baby and the fact that I was only using the student loan to pad out the figures till our anniversary, and actually have no intention of paying it off at the present time, would anyone have any objection to me removing the student loan from the target. Although my excel skills may not be up to this as it also means changing the aim for date and everything.... ah sod it it can stay put.

    1. Call HSBC
    2. Call dentist
    3. Drop letter off with colleague
    4. Get picture of December graph off NIM and post on here (only half a month late, but not really worth waiting for!)
    5. List box and random other clutter on ebay
    6. Call doctors
    7. Do 5 vine reviews
    8. Wrap ebay parcel
    9. Show Tink my new wardrobe
    10. List book box on amazon/trade in on amazon or put on bookcase if we're keeping.

I know, I can't count to 5 today, but its all really important stuff! Things like phone calls will be quick wins too.

Hey all - and nice to see you Tete & Tink!

Wowee Birdie, that's loads! Is it just that one that's valuable? Would you be heartbroken to see her go?!

I'm sure you can find a better deal for an anniversary getaway - those holiday voucher deals are never as good as they sound!

Lol at Shrimpy and trifle for lunch! I agree with Tete, it must be one of your 5 a day :)

Good luck with your lists, eBay, presentations & £2012 challenge! First post on my phone so I might need a bit of luck with that :)

Want me to sort that tonight?

Personally I'm unimpressed with Groupon and am delighted the OFT are looking into them, tried to book a restaurant we have a coupon for, get a booking. Then I'm asked if its a groupon voucher and when I said yes they said I cant come for another week. Almost told them to shove the booking and go back to groupon for a refund plus interest for the amount of time they've held the money.:mad::mad:

Anyone know if theres an MSE board on the investigation?
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

It can't be good for business as surely no one will go back if they're treated like second class customers just for taking advantage of an offer which the business themselves signed themselves up for.

  • Wow Birdie, never thought I'd hear you talking about selling your girls!

I've heard loads of bad things about Groupon re. not being able to get an appointment at the actual place once you've bought the voucher and agree with Dinah, you can usually google for a better deal anyway.

Is Africa the best place to be going when you're pregnant? I'm thinking risk of food poisoning, squits/dehydration? Also I don't count my student loan as a debt at all, if I did I'd be far from debt free! I'd have to come into a LOT of money too before I'd consider paying it off early.

Hi Poddle, your post looked fine to me. I can't seem to get this site to work on my phone (part of the reason I'm so quiet lately, the laptop is never on at home now as I just quickly check my internetz on my phone).
