Hi Pushkin.. This lady definitely wasn't moving house, unless it was to a massive 10 bedroomed house that her boyfriend/fiance was going to buy her:eek:

She was a lady of leisure who'd never worked a day in her life but had many older, richer gentlemen for boyfriends.. not sure how old she was, too much botox:eek::rotfl:

    Busy morning this morning...

OH and BIL have hopefully *fingers crossed* fixed the shower/bath leak.. we're going to leave it a few days and see if we're ok then he'll come and fix the kitchen ceiling :j haven't had to pay out too much but we'll give him some cash and we've had to buy some tile adhesive and sealant so the cost was maybe £70 ish.

Whilst the boys have been doing that I've done the washing and took it upon myself to repaint the feature wall in the living room.. OH sits nearest it and i'm not sure what he does but there's dirty patches all over it!! I imagine his nightly sport is squishing bugs up my wall  Paint was from the stash the builders left and I already had all the gear so cost £0:j

I am a bit grubby now though and have no shower to use  didn't think this one through did I :rotfl:

Glad we've got a quick tea tonight of cheesy bacon pasta.. i'm cream crackered :D

Pay day money shuffle done.. :j

It feels weird not updating my mortgage figures today but we don't pay it now till the 1st of the month! Will have to wait to update it then :(

However, I have managed to pay more off the car loan, paid off the old credit card and put money aside to pay for the new credit card.. :T

I've also set up a new spreadsheet to show all the different money pots in my offset savings account, it was getting a bit complicated without it  it's all neat and tidy now and I know who I owe what to at some point in the future.

Early night for me tonight, need to get a bit of sleep before OH wakes me up snoring again.. I wish all a good evening.

Afternoon, I tried to post earlier and then lost it, then I realised the heating had malfunctioned so I gave up trying to post!!

Heating is now fixed, it had come on full blast because the remote thermometer thing had gone haywire:eek: dread to think how much that would have cost me for a day if I hadn't been here to fix it quick sharpish!

Good news/bad news on the money front - I've paid off my car loan early :T:T so good news that it's no longer hanging over my head but bad news in that I had to steal some money out the emergency savings to do it.. should be able to top it back up pretty quick though.

I've sorted out my spreadsheet so I should have now have the correct data and it's showing that I've knocked off 3 more months of the mortgage already :j total of 7 years knocked off so far in the journey! :j:j

Other news, OH and I have decided to re-join Slimm1ng W0rld - it's £10 a week between us but I really have to try and shift some of this weight :( and OH had started to put some back on. He should get to target quite quickly which means he'll go for free, saving a £5!

It's a miserable, wet day here so i'm just snuggled up on the sofa watching tv and drinking tea.. hope everyone's well x

A very good afternoon to you

Manic week has now ended *phew* i'm honestly not sure where the time goes. I can't believe in 8 weeks it'll be Christmas - feels like no time at all!

It's OH's payday today so money shuffling done.. :j

    - Paid off old CC
    - money gone to family loan
    - rest stashed in savings pot

Unfortunately the mortgage payment won't go out until Monday, as it's a weekend so I can't get my final figures for the month until then :(

My guesstimate (to be updated properly on Monday) is

    Oct Monthly figures
    Outstanding Mortgage £145,960.34
    Family Loan £1,880 (OH's)
    Offset pot - £8,649.09
Monthly interest saved and OP'd £20.28
New end date - Dec 2029

Total Debt as present moment £139,191.25 (-£3,521,84 :j mostly car loan which has gone)

Off to update signature and then i'll have a proper good read of the diaries (now I can actually get on the boards after the glitch!!)

Nightmare of a morning.. I noticed that the direct debits weren't going out of my account for our new energy supplier, rang them and they are absolutely certain that they're receiving the money *confused* so I've done the right thing and rang the bank to see why they haven't taken the money from my account.. wish i'd never bothered!!

I've failed the telephone security password thingy and I don't have a debit card so I have been on the phone for the past half an hour trying to pass the security checks.. i'm waiting for a call back, spoken to 4 different people, told them all the same story over and over again and am currently looking like this

I know it's my own fault for forgetting my password but I assumed it was the same one as the online service and I've never had call to ring them before in my 4 years of being with - forgive me for forgetting one password in 70 I have to remember!! Laborious, unnecessary process to actually pass security..

So - I was currently thinking of moving to TSB - this has sealed the deal (at least I could go into branch to sort stuff out!) i'm afraid F1rst Direct have let me down, which is unusual for them..

I could understand if I was trying to make a payment to someone but i'm just checking why they haven't done their job properly in the first place!!!!!

    Rant over... sorry :o

eta... the bank can't see the DD set up, therefore, in their eyes it isn't, even though C00p are adamant it is.. so the bank is paying my bills for me - cheers.. I've done all I can, I don't know what else to do
    dunno-smiley-emoticon.gif

Morally, it didn't sit right with me to think that the money was going out of someone else's account, but I've done everything I can to make sure it isn't, so it must just be lost in the banks' black hole somewhere..

if only everything was much more simple...

Hi - wow what a nightmare and I totally feel your pain regarding passwords & security checks. I have to keep mine in a spreadsheet which I know is against all security advice but there are so many these days, both for work and at home, its impossible to keep track!

I too am with FD and have always found them fantastic. My head says I should switch as fd don't pay any interest on current accounts but bizarrely I feel quite loyal to them. Try to turn this around in that it has helped you make the decision to change banks and you will then make a bit of money out of doing so. Maybe I need them to annoy me so I'll make the change. :D

Hope you get it sorted - dealing with bureaucracy is a constant uphill struggle....

Brilliant.. it was exactly the reasoning behind me making that final decision!!:D Thanks for pointing it out..

I was the same as you, I felt quite loyal as they have great customer service etc but I don't ever really deal with banks other than online anyway so I don't think it's really a consideration anymore.. may as well make some money from it!

So since my issues I've had a more positive day.... :j
    • £0.43 cashback sent as an OP to the mortgage:rotfl:
    • £10 amaz0n voucher ordered for surveys
    • TSB account set up in less than 10 minutes:j:j
    • had a nice cup of tea
    • had a flutter on the lottery

I am going to have to transfer all my direct debits over to TSB myself as I have no debit card with FD :( and this is what's required to use the switching service. Not a problem though and I'll feel safer knowing which DD's are left to come out of which bank..

Now I just have to work out which bit of HR/payroll at which of our offices needs telling about transferring my salary :rotfl:

I've opened a Santander account for my bills. I'm not doing a switch, as I'm not very trusting about banks being able to transfer all my direct debits to my new account. I'd rather make the arrangements myself. I know it'll be more work, but I like to be in control !

I opened a TSB current account online this afternoon as well. It all seemed very straightforward - hopefully it'll remain easy
