Mortgage freedom..Shala_moo's attempt at a diary..

Evening,
I've been really lax in catching up with diaries lately, messing with mortgage spreadsheets too much, so I've spent the evening catching up... :T love seeing how everyone's getting on.. nosiness I think
I've rang the YB$ againthey'll be sick of me already :rotfl: made a payment last night that isn't showing on the account, but he says it may take up to a day.. hmm "faster" payments, my backside.
So todays money stuff
- made a overpayment - £26.25 - silver coins we banked the other day
- made a second overpayment:rotfl: - £8.50 will bank the pennies tomorrow
- paid £5.25 TT into offset account to test "faster" payments on that account
Tomorrows stuff will be more money shuffling/researching
- bank £75 in cheques - move to offset savings done, takes an age to show up in new account though *sigh*
- move Halif*x ISA balance into offset savings done, but as above
- do paperwork to close my 2 Halif*x accounts
- look at setting up a joint account in YB$ for bills
Other stuff for tomorrow
- Post office to pick up a parcel done, lovely hair stuff that smells of sweets
- try to fix the bath again  and possibly the ceiling we need the shelf part around the bath knocking down and rebuilding  rubbish builders who don't know how to fit a bathroom properly have basically caused havoc
- meal plan - I got some new cook books from the library yesterday :Tgot me :coffee: ready to start
xxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Second payday (also known as OH's payday
) shuffle
- Credit card paid off
- overtime payment moved to offset ac for car loan
- more of the family loan paid off
Some spending
Off swimming in a bit so that will cost me £4.30 (will be trying to go a few times a week!) although with the rain that's coming down at the minute I may as well just go for a walk.. i'll get just as wet
Also the man's coming tomorrow to trim our hedges (see how I rose above the Bush joke) it'll cost roughly £180.. but not sure until he's done.
That should be all the spending done for this week, i'll be at work late the next few nights so no opportunity to spend hopefully.. if we have food there then the company usually pay for it
Off to get me cossie on xxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Hello there.
Glad the re-mortgage has completed, and there's been lots of other little transactions going on too - every little helps as they say!
Some years ago my friend at work was talking about her gardening activities and mentioned, quite innocently, the words trim and bush in the same sentence, much to the embarrassment of one of the young lads!:rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014

Thanks for popping by GG's..
Sorry for no reply but I've not been around much this week.. x
Last week was manic at work, but hopefully that's done for another few weeks :T racked up 12 or so hours overtime so at least I get a bit extra for it..:T
So a catch up
- only managed to get to swimming once last week, poor show
- man came and hacked the hedges, cost £200
- had to ring YB$ again, they've possibly lost a cheque I sent for £3500 - I feel another complaint coming on
- banked the cheque from the solictors of the additional funds - £220 - will pay this off the mortgage next week
- made a menu board inspired by this
Mine's a little less ornate... i'm hoping it helps with menu planning and sticking to the menu plan!!
Most of the stuff I had in the house - I just had to buy the black board (£12) and a bit of extra card - now all that's left to do is to write out all our meals..
It doesn't have a handle btw, it's propped up on the blender :rotfl:
Off to make a cup of tea and have a mooch round the diaries I think xx laters....Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Evening all..
Came home early from work this afternoon, decided to take a couple of hours TOIL from my overtime instead of getting paid.. I now only have one full week of work on the run up till Christmas.. part-timer:D
Whilst home I have been mainly catching up on diaries and waiting around for YB$ to call me back about my potentially lost cheque.. 2 phone calls later, yes they have lost my cheque but they don't know how.. they asked if I wanted to note down a "something of dissatisfaction" (can't remember the exact term) but I said no I want to make a formal complaint. This way I should hopefully be reimbursed for the cost of stopping the cheque. Grrrr....
Anyway I've stopped the cheque, transferred the money over by faster payment which will take a few daysand added a few Tilly tidy's to it.
So :
- savings transferred £3284.83 (note to self - add the extra when I get paid to make up back up to £3,500)
- overpymt to mortgage - £220 from solicitors, £25 cheque from YB$
Next job is to look at how to get my ISA closed in Nati0nwide as I have no internet banking with them.. interest should have been applied at the end of last month, I worked it out to be roughly £130. Will pop into the branch on Friday...
On a less money related note, tea tonight off my menu planneris cod and chorizo paella.. interesting as I don't really like fish but that was the draw from the cards

First new mortgage payment has gone out :T:T so our mortgage is reducing once again! The next one is in three weeks so i'll start updating my figures properly then, keep it to calendar months.. we all like neatness!
Can't quite work out what's gone on with the interest, so that's bugging me - might have to spend the evening playing with some spreadsheets and a calculator :rotfl::rotfl:
Other shizzle
- Requested TCB payout £11.81
- £15 amazon voucher from VO
- free cat food for a trial I must have signed up for
- £50 complaint compensation - they found my cheque after I stopped it :wall::wall:
- renewed home insurance - same peeps, still the cheapest
Menu planner is working well, we haven't had a desire to go off plan just yet. And now I have another two to make for some work colleagues

Exciting times in the house today - we've decided to book a holiday for the first time in 5 years :j destination Canada!
OH has a special birthday coming up next year and doesn't really want a party or anything (we're anti-social :rotfl:) so I said i'd pay for us to go on holiday somewhere instead.. well pay for most of it, not all, i'm not made of money!;)
I guess it'll cost around £3k all in, but we don't often go away so I don't mind, honestI can now see my savings depleting
but I guess you have to have some experiences in life.. it's not all about saving huh??
Anyway I haven't spent all day looking at holidays, I've done money stuff too..- applied for a 0% credit card, we'll be stoozing a bit in the offset accounts and I can use it to pay for the holiday to earn the cashback
- ordered my 2nd xmas pressie, Thornt0ns hamper using the half price offer from the MSE weekly email
- moved the last of my savings to offset account, also got some of my dad's money in there - he was earning 0.01%pa interest but won't let me move it to a better account  so I had it instead and i'm paying him in apple pies - he's prefers that to money :rotfl:
- menu planner completed for the week coming, managed to stick to it all last week which is a brilliant achievement for us :T
Off to bed, 3 day week this week!! woo hooo...Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Afternoon all... off work today :j
I'm just watching a programme about shopaholics - it's unbelievable - when you have too much stuff to fit in your house and you have to pay for storage then you have an issue :eek:
The posh girl off of X-Factor is on it - she has 12 wardrobes full of designer clothes. 12!!!!
Anyway onto my lesser shopping trip from todayI feel inadequate
- Dentist - £44 (not even shopping)
- New winter coat - £32
- Lidl - weeks shopping and some bits for xmas - £37
- car park fee - £2
and that's it :rotfl: I imagine those women off the programme would be laughing at me for being so pathetic, they'd spend more than that on one hat in 2 minutes.. jeez..
My coat was from Debenh*ms, originally £65 but I got 20% off as it was labelled wrong :T and I had £20 worth of vouchers.. so pleased with that.
Bad news on the dentist front moneywise - I need a crown fitting in December so that will be £500  however, I have my 0% credit card so i'll chuck it on that and pay it off slowly. Need to send off my receipt from today so I can get £18 back of my charge.
Payday Monday :j can't wait for some more money shufflingMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Am so in agreement with this - it staggers me that storage facilities are popping up all over the place. I can't understand how they can be anything other than a short term solution if you are moving or whatever.0
