Hi Beanie, so sorry to hear about your cats - it's just heart breaking isn't it!
Glad you found a lovely new companion though, it just changes the energy of the house when a new one comes along. Although at 5am I wish they'd just wouldn't run around the house like loonies and come miaowing for food! :D

I notice you only have 1 month to go to be MF.. you must be thrilled! Really happy for you.

So I'm up and on the internet early because some of my shares in my S&S ISA broke even at closing last night and I wasn't quick enough to get a sell in so completed it this morning. The shares thing is all a bit too risky for me (very risk adverse as I'm an accountant by trade  :D) so as each of my shares gets in to profit or breaks even I have been selling the whole lot.

I also cashed in some premium bonds, they were bought years ago in small amounts so I've cashed them in and will add them back in as a lump sum, adding the shares money in at the same time. I've found you win more on the bigger lump sums than on the small amounts. It does forfeit a few months of being in the draw though :(

The rest of the day will be spent cleaning and sorting out the meal plan for the week, we've got really good with this (necessity really due to not being able to pop to the shops anymore when you want) and it seems to be saving us some money. Next step is to work on reducing the cost of the weekly shop!

    xx

    Final Post

So I didn't come back to the boards like planned in January :( I suffered through a bit of depression and anxiety (and stress trying to sell my dads property) so it was hard to carry on sorting money issues.

Everything money related chugged away nicely in the background though so here we are in Sept 2021 and we're mortgage free!!

My aim in life was to "retire" at 45, what I really meant was to have the option of whether I had to work full time in a job I hated or not. Luckily, I'm now in the position that I always dreamt of and it couldn't feel better!!

We will still carry on with low spending after giving the house a bit of a spruce up but other than that the only major money sorting is to do with pensions and investments. That's a whole new learning experience for me to look forward too!

Hope all is well with everyone on the Mortgage Free Wannabe boards! x
