Awful few weeks at work means I haven't had much time to get on the net to catch up :( although it does mean I've clocked up a fair bit of overtime!

Unfortunately I didn't get chance to update my Sept figures before today but they're better than I thought they were going to be :D

    Sept Monthly figures
    Outstanding Mortgage = £129,529.73
    Mortgage Offset % = 20.29%
Approx. Monthly interest saved and OP'd £31.96
Mortgage Neutral Date = Dec 2027

Total Debt as present moment £103,242.51 -1,451.69:T

Mortgage offset is now just peaking over 20% and it has moved the mortgage neutral date into 2027 :j:j

Austerity month was ok.. final few bits..
    • Grocery bill was £211 which is a lot less than what we'd been spending previously averaging over £300
    • ordered £20 vouchers from C0nsumerpulse
    • payout from panelb*se £10.30
    • free sachets of washing tablet and conditioner to try - it's nice treat as usually we don't use conditioner

    Non-Austerity stuff
    • car repair bill £120 :(

The non-austerity bit kind of wiped out the savings we had made but unfortunately it was necessary.

OH is quite on board with the cutting of the grocery bill so i'm hoping to keep it lower than normal, however, this is about the time of year I start to buy bits for Xmas. Especially if Lid1 have the xmas gingerbread in

    Oct Monthly figures
    Outstanding Mortgage = £128,839.49
    Mortgage Offset % = 20.81%
Approx. Monthly interest saved and OP'd £25.14
Mortgage Neutral Date = Mar 2028

Total Debt as present moment £102,033.10 -1,209.41

The work front doesn't get any easier, i've done even more overtime in the last few weeks :( plus a run in with the boss and a change in other management means everything is a little unstable again... whats new

I've spent a bit too much money this month :( although i should get some of it back.. think i've been avoiding confessing on here:o
    • Vet visit - £40 - the cat seemed to have some sort of allergy, not sure if he's ok or not yet but he seems to be a lot better
    • dentist visit - check up £42 - should get the NHS costs back once i've sent off my form
    • Cheshire Oaks visit :o - £77 in the radl*y shop - will get this back as the father has agreed to buy it as a Xmas present :T
    • paid for dinner with the sister when in Cheshire oaks, to be fair she did buy me a beautiful top and a bag so it was worth a dinner out :D
    • deposit on a new lease car (many :o) i have no justification for this really.. other than my current car is going to start needing repairs real soon and i really don't like dealing with it. So a new Fiat 500 it is, £145 a month, covering everything except insurance and petrol, which i think is reasonable and the garage has offered a reasonable price on my old one..
    • hair visit - too much £'s  but shall start ekeing this out to an 8 weekly visit rather than 6 as before
    • bought a xmas dress http://wantthattrend.com/black-wreath-reindeer-christmas-britt-skater/ :xmassmile
    • started some xmas shopping

So on the run up to Xmas i'll be spending more as i have to finish the dreaded present shopping. I tried to persuade the sister that we don't really need to do this at our age but she loves presents so... smileys-sighing-and-waiting-509975.gif

Luckily OH was more amenable to the idea of paying for tiles to do the bathroom up rather than presents this year :j so one less to buy for!!

So known costs coming up in the near future
    • tiles for bathroom and other bits like grout etc (already painted the ceiling and windowsill last week)
    • cost of tiling the bathroom - luckily OH's brother will do this so it may work out cheaper than a normal tile man but I will still pay him his daily rate
    • flooring for bathroom - currently deciding between vinyl and tiles
    • rest of deposit for car

The car is grey and the handbags are dark purple and one in black for work :D

I feel really naughty getting the car as it's quite extravagant for me, but I have no other outgoings (apart from bills) and no children to leave my money to so I may as well spend some of it enjoying my life now!

Morning, day off work today waiting in for my new car to be delivered. He's arrived safely but now i'm a bit scared to drive it just in case it gets damaged :rotfl:

Insurance on it is a little cheaper than my old car and I've renewed with my current insurer. I used the comparison websites to check everywhere else and it's around the same price. There doesn't seem to be much of a price differential these days on the comparison sites..

    Other money news
    - sold some shares, made £1800 profit - everything else has been left as it's all loss making/long term investments. These were one's I just took a punt at for short term gain (major supermarket) and luckily it worked out as the share price has dropped again this week after the bank hacking scandal
    - OP's made to mortgage this month - T$B interest £7.55, random amounts £12.70, cashback from credit card £38.30, elec/gas under budget savings £120

Right I must get my bum into gear and get myself up the butchers otherwise we'll have no food in the house for next week!

  • I would love to be brave enough to buy shares. My husbands shares from his employers (major supermarket) are doing well and their our only toe in the water...

Shares are not something i'm completely comfortable with if i'm honest  but you have to try and not regret the decisions you make at the time, and it's not something to recommend if you can't tie your money up for lengthy periods of time.

There's been some boo boos along the way :o - bought some shares at 98p then they dropped to 81p straight away and are now sitting at around 70-75p :( but I just have to leave the money there until they go back up again! *fingers crossed*

I'm just hoping to fall lucky and buy some shares at a 1p and they go up to ££'s :rotfl: but everyone hopes that too.

Old car has been sold :T:T

I had an aim to get the mortgage less offset under £100k by the end of the year and this injection of savings means the mortgage less offset is now

    £97,876 :j:j:j:j:j:j

    I feel a little bit like I've cheated :o

I'll still take it as a win though.. it does mean my MFIT target is definitely in the green for now :D

    Other money news
    • butchers trip cost £50 but have enough meat for the month
    • should be refunded some tax off the old car - it'll be about £15 for 6 months - will OP once it's arrived
    • they haven't took the money for my new car yet so I've gained 3-4 days extra savings in my offset account.. :rotfl: 10-20p's worth, every little helps
    • fully switched utilities to BG now so just waiting for my £30 cashback - will OP

Dreaded work tomorrow :( but only in for 3 days this week :T I've ordered most of my xmas presents online today as i'm in to take deliveries this week, just have a few more to get.:T

Then it's on to making lists for the food items we need - it's now tradition for us to throw the family Xmas eve family gathering so buffet foods and then we always have xmas dinner at ours.. I love xmas lists! :snow_grin
