I really admire those of you who have joined up and are getting out and meeting people. I have been divorced and alone for years and just do not meet any single men irl.
Reading this thread prompted me to look on POF and on a search I found someone I went to school with. I remember him as being a really nice boy, he has put on a few pounds but his profile sounds like he has the same values as me - seems easy-going and supposedly looking for a long term relationship and does not sound like a perv. No todger grabbing photos eitherI am embarrassed to say I have been kind of stalking his profile, he was online every day over Christmas so has either been pretty lonely or is furiously messaging as many women as he can find. There is no way I could contact him, unfortunately while he has gained a few pounds I have gained a few stones and am not very pretty.....what you would call a munter if I am honest. A snub from a stranger is bad enough but no way could I risk being turned down by him - this is a small town and I would no doubt be a laughing stock.
It has been nice to indulge myself in a few fantasies thinking about him though - have imagined bumping into him while at the supermarket etc. - so that will have to do me and it has kept me amused lol. I hope you are all having fun on your dates, good luck to you all.
Please can I ask a general question? Regarding um, hanky panky, as Lionhead was saying if you put out too soon you are a slapper, if you wait too long you are a tease. I am interested to know when you think the right time is? I have not done the deed for more than a decade so I would want to get to know someone pretty well beforehand, but I understand a middle aged red blooded man may not be prepared to wait. ( I would not be planning on telling any men that I have gone without nooky for so long BTW)0 -

there is no "right" time, it's all relative, just be true to yourself, maintain respect and you'll find the right time; there's no rush - nice men don't push0 -
well, 2 more nasty messages today from girls on POF.
1- I'm not desperate enough to even want to know you, and if I was you'd have to be the only breed able man in the world left
2- f##k off you glasses wearing freak, get a life and meet some one the proper way
Such a wonderful pair I'm sorry I missed those chances
How rude of them, they are obviously not worth knowing and you have had a lucky escape0 -
Indeed.
Question to you all though, how much does the distance matter to you?0 -
Scotty I am possibly not the right person to reply as I have not had any online dates. I would say if someone wants a one night stand then any reasonable distance is ok for just the one night, however to maintain a regular relationship it is easier if you live fairly close to each other. I think how far that would be is different for each person -I hate driving ( and also work and have a son to care for) so probably would not want to drive more than around 15 miles max. No wonder I am single lol.0

Not at all slinky, I have had no dates yet, and I've been single for over 6 years, looking 3 though.
Its just I wonder does limiting the distance worry people0 -

Those replies are just disgusting, what the hell is wrong with people these days? What ever happened to politeness and good manners, I really despair sometimes. Scottie you sound a lovely chap, take no notice of those awful girls.
I haven't had much luck on POF lately but *shock* *horror* I actually met someone in REAL LIFE this week whilst out on the town. I am meeting up with him for a quiet drink on Sunday evening, really looking forward to it.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Cheers hippy, and good luck with that guy- fingers crossed for you.
I don't take notice any more cause I think if there like that to a person they don't know then what sort of person are they going to be like with those they know.
I'll keeping looking and hoping- there must be some one out there.0 -
Ive been messaging a few men, but the ones I like I dont get any joy with a reply. Today Ive been painting my kitchen ceiling to the sound of the bee gees best hits and had a ball.
My ceiling is nice and white now. Next is the walls but not till weekend when Ive chosen a pale green paint, but not b and q as their tins are only 2.5litres.! Why dont they sell kitchen paint in 5litre tins!
On the dating side of things I do get a lot more men looking at my profile since I changed the username and improved the profile.:DMortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230 -

I don't think distance would worry people to be honest other than the fact that you'd spend lots of money on fuel, travelling etc. Everything would have to be super organised I guess.0
