sorry to butt in,usually hang out in DFW.
i've joined up to POF today-lots of messages(some very odd,and one picture "fully functioning" mens bits if you get my drift)
anyway, one chap and i have sent a couple of messages back and forth, and he's asked me on a date this friday-is this how fast people go on?
actually,i'm not the sort who would want to chat for ages before meeting, but blimey!
wish i knew how to post a link and you could let me know if my profiles ok.

I think it can be a good thing to meet asap if you get on it saves wasting time chatting online for ages and then feeling let down if things in person aren't going to go any further.

I met a guy 6 hours after the first message once.

Remember the first meeting should be low key, a quiet drink to see if you like each other and want a proper date. You will feel less pressured.

Gem, it depends how brave you are, you can post your user name here and other POF members can look you up and read your profile. Or I think you can just copy and post the URL from the top of the page when you're looking at your own profile.

You must be getting it right if you've already got a date for Friday though!! Good luck!!

Just go for it :D it is scary but I did the whole waiting longer before meeting and each time I was disappointed I think we both built up an illusion of what would happen.

The best outcomes have been where I have met within a week of chatting.

I have also found that if you wait too long they will move on to someone else.

My rule is (If I was looking) if a man drags his heels about meeting I'll move on.

Agree with this.

Why wait? He'll be the same person in a few weeks as he is now, but you'll have higher expectations because you'll have built up a bigger mental picture of him.

I'd keep Fridays date if I were you.

Can I join?

Have read over this whole thread the past few days. I have been on POF most of this year with no success. Get lots of messages but rarely any dates, the guys seem to go quiet when it comes to arranging them. Of the dates I have had they havent been great, mainly guys just wanting a sh@g. Despite making it clear thats not why I'm on the site...stupid men.

This post caught my eye...
Had a date today, wasn't great, he didn't shut up! never asked me anything... humph... back to the drawing board!

I could have written that, if it wasnt for the fact you live nowhere near me I would think we went on the same date! Texting and emailing him was easy but when we met up he actually didnt stop talking, anything I asked him, no matter how vague, lead to another looooong story. He was nice though and a gentlemen, not the worst date I have had.

I'll keep looking, just want to date for now, it's not easy though :o

A cat wont mend those cupboard doors or emulsion the bathroom ceiling though.;):D

That is true...mind yòu, some men these days struggle to be able to use a paintbrush properly and as for mending things, well, I have a toolbox and I'm not afraid to use it :)
