Got my family round me, got work to deal with and then I'm off for a while at start of January.

Been away from it a while, decided that it was going to get me down more, so instead I've just been reading, and seeing friends.

Hope we all have a good christmas- and it doesn't matter if we are single at this time of the year, as long as you have your family around you'll be fine

Im getting a bit bored with it all. One guy message me from southport and wanted to get to know me and the conversation was boring, he hardly told me about himself and kept asking how was my day. Boring!

So Ill just tell him there is no spark for me in the communication department.

Well my date last night went really well! He looked like his photos (good looking!) and he was exactly as he came across via email, we'd both had a lot to say in our emails and that was exactly the same IRL, we were out for almost 5 hours and we were talking and laughing so much that it flew by! He paid for everything (and I hadn't expected him to, I was quite happy to pay my own way!) and was a complete gentleman. He walked me to my car and asked that I let him know that I got home safely which I did and we had a short conversation where we both established that we'd enjoyed ourselves and liked each other and that we'd like to see each other again. It had come up in our emails that we both thought that honesty was the best policy rather than messing people about so it was nice to see that come into play!

It was my first date with anyone off the internet and pretty successful as far as I'm concerned! Even if nothing had come of it or even if nothing more does come of it, at least it's helped to give me some faith in internet dating away from all the horror stories!

I don't think it's that at all, I think it's more likely that a lot of people on dating sites will contact someone that they wouldn't dream of approaching IRL and will say things that they wouldn't dream of saying to their face! In some ways that's good if, like me, you'd be a bit cautious about approaching a guy in a bar because you're shy/they're in a big group/you're not sure if they're single/you're not sure if they're straight, whereas online you can contact someone and you already know that they meet the 'essential criteria' of being single and straight and you don't risk losing too much face. However, in this case, said bloke probably wouldn't walk up to you in a bar with his hand down his trousers and say 'hi sexy what's your number' (well, if he's really odd he might do!) but because he's hiding behind a computer screen it opens him up to a lot more opportunities than he'd have IRL and because it's 'only the internet' they forget that the people they're messaging are real people and think it's ok to do or say anything they like.
