Hun I hate to say it but I agree, e seems to be keeping you warm as a back up
Might be best to just mark him down as fun, but nothing more.
Don't get hung up on everything, just move on and you'll find some one better0 -
Hello Ladies and Gentleman,
Thank you for a great thread, I have found it all very interesting.
Like many of you I am online dating, which I have found ok. I have about as much success online as I do in general life.
I am a member on a site called Dating agency which specifically for people over 34 ( I am 44). Well, yesterday I had a message from an attractive man, who sent me a lovely email, with his email address. When I went back to reply I realised that he had removed his details from the site. This immediately sent alarm bells ringing, as he did not mention in his email that he was leaving. But I decided to drop his a quick message using his private email address.
Today, I received a long, in depth email, with photos of him with his 7 year old daughter. The email mentioned his deceased wife, about his mother and sister being killed in a 'auto'crash , how he is looking for his soulmate.
Now maybe I am a cynical old moo(I do like keeping my private life to myself until I know someone well) , but this is just ringing huge alarms bells. I feel he is just saying things he thinks I want to hear. Where at this early stage I would be happier if he had said he had taken his kid to see Rhianna, something personal but friendly. Also do people really send photos of their children to strangers (I don't have children, but if I did, I certainly would not!).
Also he mentions he is from East Sussex, United Kingdom, would anyone who lived in the UK write their address this way? If I did not want to put down my city/town/village I would put just East Sussex or the nearest big town.
Instinctively, I think this is just a scam letter but I am just wondering if I am being to wary.
Opinions please!
Thank you

There Goes Trouble and Lotus Eater,
Thanks for the responses. I am so tempted to reply back to him to see how far he will take it.
With my credit rating I am the last person to get any money out off!!

I was on Time Out dating. Bemused to get a load of messages from Tory guys in their 50s, didn't seem like the demographic - then found out completely by accident that it feeds through to Telegraph dating. So that's something to be aware of... where you sign up for isn't necessarily the same place you end up. (A colleague found me on there too, how embarrassing on several levels...)
I've tried mysinglefriend which is OK - watch out who gives you your write-up, though. There's a new site called Doing Something (doingsomething.co.uk) which I think is worth a look.0 -
Oh and yes sadly you do have to watch out for scams. A friend of mine recently met on a dating site a bloke who seemed perfect, but then started to contradict himself/forget some details about his own life, took the profile down, put it back up with different details, etc. Can't be good.
One of the Telegraph blokes said his wife had died - he had two kids and wanted to meet a woman with no kids of her own who wanted to give him some more. It took me a while to convince him that I wasn't what he was looking for...0 -
Like an idiot i have signed back up at POF.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0

Its a scam! I've had something similar before, from a guy saying he was american, working in the middle east. The English is never quite up to scratch , it'll be some dodgy Nigerian.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
