Think cabin fever is setting in. Off work sick, nothing else to do so decided to flick through the "meet me" feature on POF. Looked at 400 pics (yes, I counted!) and didnt click yes or maybe once!! Think Im too fussy. Had a look at the people who have viewed me and its like a rogues gallery from crimewatch. There really is no hope!! Im no oil painting but really, this is ridiculous!!
Oh well, off to do some mind numbingly boring housework now. Got to be better than fishing lol. Lou

400  I rest my case. As I said before (and it's a general comment lou--b, not directed at you) human nature means we look at pictures first and, if we think wow! we might then read the profile. The trouble with that is we, invariably, have nothing in common with the people that make us go wow or worse still, find that conversation with them makes watching paint dry seem like an adrenaline rush.

I've recently been in contact with a lady from Oasis. She has private photo's that I haven't asked to see. As previously stated, I don't have a photo up. We have quite a lot in common from family set up and life to interests, share the same soap box and so on.

May be it's an age thing and priorities are different (although I'm only 51 :eek:) but perhaps the need for a photo from the outset is because people want things to happen right now rather than invest a little time.

There's no doubt we all want someone we perceive as "arm candy" so our peers turn green but compatibility is so much more than that .

I was going to message earlier and totally disagree with everything you had written then I thought...why not give it a go??
So off I went, I selected the LOCAL tab, to give me a sporting chance and had a look. I deliberately ignored the pictures and went for a profile that stood out. What a choice I made, actually made me lol!! Its fantastic, in a male chauvinist kinda way, but that appeals to my sense of humour.
Sent a friendly wee message saying how much I liked his profile, nothing else photos attached as he (weirdly) only accepts messages with photos. Anyway, he messaged back and...wait for it...Hes FIT as FOOK!!! Been chatting for hours now. Only prob, at 6foot 6 hes a small child taller than me!!
Anyway...Thanks 267, I would never have done it without you!!

:j You can always buy heels :rotfl:

He may well not have his photo there to filter out all those that go by photo alone therefore not wasting his time - sadly, not something I have to worry about :(

Normally (and it's just me) I don't bother if they haven't got a photo but insist you have / supply one, hugely hypocritical.

I've just had a pig of a day, so reading your comment has brought a smile to my face. I'm really chuffed for you Lou.

Oh, BTW, I knew you wouldn't do the housework ;)

I'm beginning to give up hope with POF - just seem to meet some odd people on there, I'm on my third profile now because I have deleted and reinstated - since last October I have had three dates and even people I have spoken to turned decidedly odd when swapped email/phone numbers

Date 1 - Nice looking lad, intelligent, had a lot in common. However not interested in a proper date and would rather just attempt to try and get me in the sack....errr no!

Date 2 - Again nice looking late, loads in common, few dates. Ended up having a massive breakdown and going back to his ex girlfriend

Date 3 - Absolutely lovely but no spark there

Back on the site reluctantly, I'm in love with one of my closest friends and things have happened between us but it's like we get close and then back off again (cos he has massive issues)...and I even went to a psychic who was scarily accurate about an awful lot of things and said we'd be together by June. Unfortunately, we have had a major fall out over something stupid and he is now not talking to me at all :( All my friends dislike him and think he has been leading me on and using me when he sees fit and the argument is just an excuse for him to try and play the hurt party and not have to speak to me.

Anyway, within a couple of hours of setting up a new profile I obtain mr stalker who wants to send me pictures of..."himself"...and keeps plaguing me everytime I go online asking why I am not speaking to him...one for the block list I guess.

I'm starting to give up with dating and just wondering whether I attract weirdos....are there any nice men left out there?

Aaw, that's great, I really hope things work out for you :T
I asked him out on the saturday and he accepted, i was so nervous, I went out shopping to trafford centre with his daughter (24) on the sunday then I had tea at his while his daughter went to her friends. We got on great, so much in common despite 11 years between us. Monday, he picked me up and took me to pics, for curry and coffees, tuesday he brought m and s meal with wine to my house and flowers too (lillies). Sunday last week we went to rivvy (bolton) walked to the pike, had lunch at the barn, had a wonderful time then we drove with roof down in my car. Monday he took me to lytham st annes, blackpool, fleetwood, lots of coffee and lunch all paid for by him, bought me a silver necklace. We are best of friends and fancy each other, and are very open with each other. Its amazing and I really like him. Not seen him this week until i had a gas leak, gas meter capped off and he brought electric heaters this morning at 6.30am for me. Hes working shifts so cant see him. Sunday we are going to cholmondley car show in cheshire. Thing is we love classic cars and old films etc and have lots of interests in common. I am very happy and he adores me. Treats me like a lady and is the perfect gent.

I have just decided I must be hideous, and only worthy of nasty little idiots.

Have deleted all profiles for now x
