  • so she has changed the thread title and her first post as she has realised the danger she could have been in. I wonder if she realises that her first post has been quoted? Unfortunately for her google has already cached the original. Put singapore airlines and scammers into google and the first return is this thread.
So its been a useful thread- it shows that you really need to read the T&Cs- preferably before you book but definitely before posting accusations of a company being scammers. It does also though highlight something that many may not think about when booking.

I know that when we booked our flights with Qatar for this last summer I used a card which was then out of date by the actual flight. I phoned amex and emailed qatar and was assured that the card number was still the same so the date of expiry had changed only ( and the 4 digit code). I took the email along and lo and behold they did check my card and they did query it. Producing the email helped and they verified it.

I really didn't know that so many people don't realise that A lot of airlines do say that the person that pays has to present the CC at check in. VS and BA just to name a couple. Mind I have never been asked to show mine.
It isn't about reading the T&C, it is usually stated on the payment page in pretty big words
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • You're talking nonsense.

The transaction was covered by the 'Verified By Visa' process.

If there is any risk, then why don't BA, Emirates, Virgin, Etihad and all the other airlines require the card at check in?

    Well Etihad do
Guests are kindly reminded to present their original credit card used for this booking at the check-in counter for verification purposes

hmm and how does that work for business puchases made using a corporate card?

I was wondering this... I flew with Singapore earlier this year on a business trip. I don't have a corporate card myself and it was all booked by someone else. I was not asked to produce a card at check-in, and would have been in quite a pickle if I had been.
