As social tariffs are ended and those customers go to standard, assuming most do not go to the best online deal I suspect they will be worse off!
As a member of staff in a call centre I hope people realise that this scheme was brought in by government - not the utility companies.

Could you possibly confirm the criteria for people on regular benefits? According to who you work for, of course.

It would be a big help. Failing that, I'll just call them on Monday morning.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I'm confused.....

I think energy companies should be able to opt in or out of providing social tariffs and rebates such as this.

In this way, i would be able to choose whether i wished to contribute to someone else's fuel bills or not.

I'm not much of a socialist and it doesnt give me much comfort to be going out to work on a Winters day, having to turn my heating off/down to save money whilst others are warming their collective backsides at cheaper rates.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • How about get rid of the feed in tariffs too, why should we pay for others to profit by our misery.

A lot of this eco wash put undue burden on those least can afford to, it can also effect business and ultimately jobs

What is the chat with British Gas? If you don't mind me asking, what criteria do you meet? Did you speak with someone today about it? As far as I knew, the department I need to speak to aren't available until tomorrow morning.

Holmesgroove they phoned me back after I emailed them yesterday. They called me back today, asked if I was on things like housing benefit council tax benefit job seekers and dla etc. I get DLA, council tax credit and child tax credit so I meet their criteria, they didnt go into it in any depth. Try emailing them.

Thanks for the info. I'm calling them at 8am tomorrow, so I will see if they can help me out. Fingers crossed, but I fear the worst. It seems very vague and has a lot of grey areas.
    Thanks again.
p.s. how do the pay the £120 rebate? British Gas that is...
