Hi everyone!
Hugs to those who need them. Sorry haven't read thread yet.
Am a very pleased person today as we've got a very good deal on a new pc and a very kind person on the techie board has also pointed me in the direction of a much cheaper memory stick so OH will be chuffed.
OS today has been less than intended as ahem we forgot to set the alarm. OH did the hoovering for me whilst I rushed around like a scalded cat making beds, washing up and cleaning Twitten's tray.
Tonight I shall do a quick shopping list, put a dark load on, sew on small person's cub badge and try some more indoor jogging [up to 17 mins now]- somehow it seems less like exercising when I do it watching the TV!!
My naughty little mog has a new trick....everytime I sit down to read a book she appears as if by magic and proceeds to put her chin on the top of it and pull it down with her head to get my attention. Honestly she's worse than having a demanding child...we're thinking of renaming her pushy pants as she will not take no for an answer!!
Have a great day.

Good afternoon :j
Well it's certainly very windy today isn't it?
At work (as usual), looking forward to finishing in an hour :T
Tea tonight will be toad in the hole with veggies and new pots and gravy for DD. Haven't decided yet for DH and I - maybe paella
Need to clean the kitchen tonight with stardrops, the bathroom with stardrops and vinegar - and I'm hoping to settle down later with my knitting magazine and finally learn how to knit!!
Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Shez, in terms of budget planners I don't use the MSE one. I have a spreadsheet which has lists of numbers grouped as follows:
- Balance of each bank account/credit card
- Uncleared items on each bank account/credit card
- Money owed by or to other people, or to the taxman
- Balance of each general budget pot (everything from savings to groceries to Christmas). These are expressed as negative values, i.e. money due to be deducted from my bank balance.
- Amounts known to be outgoing in the near future (i.e. stuff that's been taken out of the previous category and listed in more detail, i.e. "Spending money for week commencing 22/01/07" or "Birthday present for Mum"). Like the budget pots, these are expressed as negative values, i.e. money due to be deducted from my bank balance.
All of this is in one column and the total of this should always be zero (because the sum of the positive values, i.e. the amount of money I've got, is always countered by the sum of the negative values, i.e. the amount that is divided up into all the budget pots).
Then the clever bit. Immediately to the right of the Budget Pots section, I have a block of figures which shows how NEXT month's salary will be allocated into each budget pot. Then, when my payslip comes through, I copy this block of numbers, place it over the budget pots, and go "Paste Special - Values - Add" which drops the new month's money into the budget pots.
Does this make sense?
Edit: I can blank out my own numbers and email you a copy of it if you like (might take a while for me to make it user friendly, though).Operation Get in Shape

Quickly popped in to OS in my lunch hour to check out everyones news - I love to hear what's going on with folks.
Snow city here but it's starting to melt - that said the sky is full of snow. I'm trying to keep to the store cupboard challenge and keep my food stocks down (they seem to be breeding - there's never any space in the freezer.)
Also trying to get motivated into doing some home improvements. I need to phone the carpet fitter for a quote then buy a new carpet for the spare bedroom and new lino for the bathroom - I would love to get that done by the end of February - just need to keep motivated.
Hugs to all.:j0 -

Afternoon all
:grouphug: to all, especially moggins, valentine and all the others feeling rubbish
chardonnay - how pretty!!! wish we had snow... it's the first winter in ages that we haven't had anything - not even a peek in the Peak District where my parents live and they usually get a white xmas/new year every year
weather is rubbish here too (all of about 20miles from where dlb and crazychick are so surprisingly similar :rotfl: ) river accross the road looks like flooding, luckily the other riverbank is about 6ft lower than our side so should be ok
exam this morning was no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Even when I opened the question paper I nearly cried, but got myself together and once I'd started writing, all the stuff came back to me, and some new points arose in my head, and I managed to write a fairly coherent couple of essaysOne of the questions was "Comment on the craziness of Psychoanalysis" :rotfl: :rotfl:
OH and I made up last night (thanks for all the comments btw - he has come round to my way of thinking that yes proper washing up liquid is good, but when we have absolutely no cash to buy any more, Stardrops will do the job)I redeemed OS into his head by returning from an 'essentials' run to Mr T's with 4 lovely looking pork steaks - yellow stickered to 79p
Gotta go take him for his hair cutting later today.
Not feeling very "with it" overall, think it's a combination of exam stress (last one tomorrow :j :j , OH being a "tool" and worrying about my sisters. Sent the older one a pretty silver and mother-of-pearl necklace that I spotted in the sale at work and she phoned today to say that she got it and that she absolutely loves it (hadn't told her I was sending anything so was a surprise for her). It is my sister's friends funeral today (the girl who committed suicide last week) so will phone her later to see how she goes. The school have actually been really good about the whole thing, they have a half day today out of respect and have offered counselling services to those who feel shocked by the whole thing, and have pledged to make it a permanent thing so that the kids have someone detatched from the school and home to talk to so that hopefully a future tragedy will be averted.
(((hugs again to all)))

Hi again,
Winds are still howling here (Junction 32 of the M6 is closed northbound so it is causing havoc in Preston). So far I have been very lucky. I have only lost the lid to one of my recycling boxes. Two of my neighbours have lost their downpipes completely and there are a few roof slates smashed on the street so someone may need to do a repair job soon. chardonnay would rather have the snow than this. Your pics were lovely to look at and brought back many happy memories for me. I miss snow. We very rarely get it here and never in the quantities that you do in Scotland.
moggins I say treat yourself. You seem to manage to do so much for your family that I'm sure they wouldn't resent you treating yourself.
DD is SUPPOSED to be playing football after school today. I'm not sure that it will be happening now.(I don't really want to go out more than I have to today.) No phone call from the "other mother" so I'm assuming that she will actually pick DS up from school today - for the first time in quite a few weeks.
Trying to warm the house up for DD and DS coming home from school but I seem to be fighting a losing battle.
Think I need some tea and maybe a scone (purely to warm myself up you understand)."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

hope the wind has abated for everyone who had it and its a pity about your fence dlb, we havnt had it too bad up here
love to all xx0 -
Oh my god the winds so strong, fence panels gone from the side of the house and the large gusts make the roof sound like its going to come off. Recycling is all over the road. Last time the weather was this bad the gable end fell out of the side of the house. DH has just phoned to say that he is on his way home as they have shut the school.
Stay safe this afternoon everyone.Sorting my life out one day at a time0
