thanks to this weather I'm wondering whether a house containing a girl in a gingham pinafore is going to fly off over the rainbow and squash dlb's next door neighbour so that all that's left is her ruby slippers
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
knowing my luck it would be my house that flew up and it would just be me in my 4 year old jeans and old jumper that would squash witches house!!
It is still stood at the minute, lol.
So much mess everywhere on way to school, sheds blown down, huge tree on school field up rooted, emergency services rushing around with blue lights on.Hope everyone is ok.

Good afternoon - hope we are surving this horrid windy weather
I drove home from work driving 15mph as it was that strong, I was driving into the wind and couldnt go any faster. Im dreading going out again shortly to fetch OH from work.
DLB have you been in touch with the council ref the other fence panels coming loose? or will you wait till they turn up again!
Its my cats 11th birthday today, my favorite blue long haired persian called "norman". He's just been treated to a small amount of tuna!
Got to iron uniforms for work/school in a bit, ready for tomorrow. Thank heaven its friday!
I managed the post office earlier to post ebay parcels. Had a lovely comment from a buyer, as she paid a little too much p&p. It didnt come to the amount I charged her, so I refunded her some of the money. She was really happy and pleased that there are still some honest ebayers out there! that made me smile.
Right best be off, be back soon
Take care
Love as usual

Just to say a quick Hello to everyone and hope you're all okay in this horrible weather - thankfully it seems to be easing slightly here, unless it's just that I can't hear it because the TD's on!
Bargain Rzl - After the "Great Storm" of 1987 there were more gales in Jan '88, and I remember my DH being stuck in London overnight because they stopped the trains. What a shame your course was so boring, but they usually are, I think!:p
Shez - my DD2's OH works in Canary Wharf too. He's with Bear Stearns, but in one of the lowest paid banking jobs unfortunately!
Wonder how Aussielass's move has been going? Can't wait to find out.
Penny-Pincher - hope the hospital appt was okay. Don't go overdoing the cleaning!
Got a nasty feeling this is going to disappear when i try to send it, so I'll just say (((((((HUGS)))))) to you all!

The wind had dropped here this afternoon but it seems to be picking up here again. Poor little DD nearly got blown off her feet this morning but luckily Daddy had her hand really tight. The dozy berk took his umbrella this morning as it was raining so we have now lost that completely, and it wasn't until after he had thrown it in the bin that I read in TWG about using the fabric for a childrens poncho, would have been a good use for it too as it was a lions of Longleat one.
DS came home at lunchtime, they shut the school as the windows of the kitchen had been blown in. He is now off until Monday when they should have finished the repairs.
DD is driving to band tonight, I wish he wouldn't go, he has to go down the bypass and the sidewinds are going to be awful. I'm hoping the wind dies down by tomorrow as I have to do a 36 mile round trip to take my parents shopping and they have taken all the trees down from the side of the bypass which used to provide a windbreak to build houses
Must go and put the spuds on for tea, we are having slo cooker Barbecue Beef with mash.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Hello - hope everyone is safe and well in this nasty weather!
(((Hugs))) to everyone who needs one.
Up very early this morning.
1. Had to prepare slow cooker
2. Had to leave for work at 6.30.
OH turned slow cooker one before he left at 8 am so now we have a lovely chicken casserole. I've just put the potatoes and cabbage in the steam and waiting for OH to come home.
It is very nasty out there. Drove to work in howling rain and then was buffeted about by the wind on the way home. Branches are being ripped off trees and HGV's are being told to leave the motorway. OH is on his motorbike and he's promised to come home via the back roads.
So far we have just lost a slate off the roof so I think we are very lucky by the sounds of it. The doors and windows are all rattling.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Shez wrote:Theres alot of things I want to get started on this year - but for some reason my head just feels clogged and all over the place and I cant seem to get organised at all!
OK - am gonna go off now and try and do a TO-DO list of all the things I would like to do or achieve!!! think it will be a big list - so I might be sometime! :rotfl:
Sorry for the boring post today - i think i need to get out more!:D
Not boring Shez.
That's what this thread is for - so we can have a chat 'over the fence' about whatever is on our minds.
And you are not the only one.
I had lots of plans for when I retired but my get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went :rotfl:
Going back to sleep in the morning instead of getting moving etc.
Maybe I need a TO-DO list as well.0 -
Evening all, well my internets been on and off, almost as often as the power, keeps flickering
candles are out ready. It's been a mix here of windy and wet then calm all day, wasn't too bad when I took the dogs this morning but turned when I was there, then same this afternoon, but I think the wind and rain are here for the night now. Have had to prop mine and neighbours fences up, again!
Managed to do loads in DS2s room today, loads more space by changing furniture around, saying that it's took 3 hours so far. Have sorted a load of junk out and his toys, aswell as the wardrobes.
Also found a suit which still fits DP today, he was saying didn't have anything to wear so couldn't go to the funeral on Monday, so that's that excuse gone. He used to have to wear them where he worked before and thought they would all be too small now as he had put weight on but he's lost some recently too. Only thing we couldn't find was a suitable tie, but that can be borrowed.
Working on a to do list for this evening myself, mainly because I need to keep myself busy as DPs out in the taxi and I will be worried because of the weather. I can imagine how concerned you must be apple_mint, I am so pleased my partner sold his motorbike as in weather like this I would worry until he was home. Hope everyone is safe and well this evening, I have no intention in leaving the house if I don't have to. DP has my Jeep anyway, better in this weather and has the towing kit in just incase there is more fallen trees on the way home (has been 3 so far today fall on that road)
My bread came out really nice last night in my new BM, was really pleased with my first attempt! I have had to go back to using bin bags, the bins have tipped over 4 times so far today because of the wind and loose rubbish makes 20 minutes of cleaning up!One day I might be more organised...........
