    :hello:OS'ers :hello:
    :grouphug:if you want/need one :grouphug:

Its raining like heck and blowing a gale and I have to go to the sorting office and collect that b**** parcel!!!!!

KYLE; try burining a candle in the kitchen see if that gets rid of the smell......

JACKIE O ....hope you have a wonderful trip...... I went to Indiana some years ago and visited the Amish in the north of the State, it was wonderful, we stayed in an Amish guest house, the only people there for a couple of days....had a great time. There is a wonderful quilt museum I think its at Bird in Hand........can't quite remember. I do so admire those people for adhereing to what they believe in although I know they have had their problems recently, I read one of the newspapers on line............they have such a simple way of life but work so hard, have you seen the sites on the internet about them? fascinating reading. I have read quite extensively about them and their history etc got several books from the local library. I have always had a 'thing' about them since I was a teenager..... so it was really a great thrill to visit, see and talk to them. Beware and do not photograph them, its against their religion, very much the same as not having a mirror in the house, I do have some photographs but taken from the back and in the distance. I met with one lady who was very kind and allowed me to photograph the house but was very gratified when I told her I had no intention of taking her photograph. She had a very hard life, her husband had a massive heart attack when he was only 28, and was unable to work, she had supported the family by making quilts and selling them..... he helped her by doing the cutting and using the treadle machine to piece them, she then quilted them by hand, they had brought up 2 daughters...... unusual in itself as the Amish do have large families

Well after I have been to the sorting office and changed the ink in the printer I really have nothing planned, we have friends coming to dinner a week on Saturday, I did a quick re-arrangement of the menus so I do not have to buy anything, I have a chicken in the freezer, so will cook that, if there is any left it will do for a meal for us. I also picked up some cheap salmon fillets in Mr T's after Christmas, so plan to cook them and let them go cold, to replace the chicken we would have had on the Sunday. I love salmon cold, but hate it hot, so will do a salad and make some potato salad to go with it.... won;'t hurt us to have a salad for Sunday instead of a roast.

Tomorrow I am out for the day at my friends, I need to tweak her computer for her, it is going to have to go back the right hand click pad is sticking, so want to put all her info onto disc before it goes, especially her pictures.

off for a :coffee: before I tackle the wind and rain................

    Its so windy just lately!
I keep looking out at the plastic greenhouses to make sure they are still there.
Yesterday I spent a long time making marmalade. I make a huge batch as OH can live on it :) This year I have 2 preserving pans which made life so much easier. Usually I struggle with one and the pressure cooker.
Anyway after much bubbling ,steaming and stirring, I now have 21 jars sitting in the kitchen and a house smelling of oranges.
OH has decided to cook sundays dinner every week (so far anyway) and has done quite well. He is a perfectionist and is never happy with the result but we are.
I bought myself a new (to me) coat last saturday for a whole £1.It is woollen and has a hood (YAY) so no more woolly hats all the time.
I'm trying to go for a walk 5 days a week to keep fit and so far so good.
My new toothbrush snapped:mad: and rather than throw it away,I jammed the brush end into a free biro pen handle and voila a trendy, bendy flourescent green handled toothbrush.
    See you later

(((Hugs))) to Jellycat and hubby, and anybody else who needs them.

The gasman has just been round and the boiler wont be fixed till tomorrow. Off to Mr T's later to get the shopping and see if they have any resonably priced fan heaters. We have been lent on by MIL but we really need two. DD room was freezing last night.

Going to post on the flylady thread in aminute with my list for today otherwise I wont get anything done. Hoping to start the decorating in DD room at the weekend so I need to have a good sortout in there.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning everyone,

snowing here for the first time this year but got to nip out to the post office in a bit bbbrrrr. Going to try my big boots bought specially to cope with frost and snow :D . Planning to have a clear out of all the accumulated paper and letters later - we recently remortgaged and there is so much to file away

Fancy making some butternut squash soup and saw a recipe on TV at the weekend for lasagne made with cottage cheese instead of sauce so might try that as I've got some veggie mince and not made lasagne for ages.

Otherwise its a wrap up and keep warm day north of the Border - keep safe everyone

    Morning all

Feeling a little despondent today and nearly didn't post but you always manage to cheer me up so I'm making the effort. DH was tearing the house apart while I was trying to work looking for some music he's lost and I am getting the blame for tidying it away. He has a whole cupboard filled with box files for this stuff but does he use it?

Jellycat - Huge hugs for you and your DH, hopefully this will put things in perspective for him.

Csarina - I've always been fascinated by the Amish way of life, I do envy you your trip.

Kyle - I think only time and open windows will sort out your smell.
Twink - don't go too hard on her, brain cells die when we have kids, over the last week I have stuck a can of tuna in the freezer and put an empty wok on a full on gas ring and walked away from it to do something else.

Hugs to everyone else who needs one, by the time I've got this far down the list I've forgotten who said what.

If you can get the halogen heaters, they are much more efficient and cost less to run.

Gosh it is so windy out there isn't it?!!

Am at work, keeping an eye on the kiddies (man I love Vision software!).

Am so tired... started a new meds yesterday and gosh it's worn me out! I wish I could say 'roll on the weekend' but I have a party to do on Sunday! It's my friends hen night on Saturday though so that should be fun... and don't worry, it's not tacky at all!

Had a letter from the residents association this morning complaining that our dogs urine has been spilling onto others residents balconies... hm now considering he is a small breed, and produces about a thimble full, and urinates onto a pot of dirt, I really don't think so!! Ever since we moved here a year ago we've had all sorts said about us, it really is unfair. One of the guys on the residents association seems to have made it his mission to drive us out.... unfortunately he won't be getting his wish anytime soon, as we can't afford to move or even think about selling up yet! Makes me so angry! On my birthday last year they sent me a charming letter, full of made up untruths about us! People really are ridiculous!

Doubt I'll get much done today apart from sleeping and making an easy dinner!

Hugs to those who need them x

I meant to go out again to Morrisons but frankly couldn't be bothered even though I desperately need washing powder, hair conditioner, and more to the point, FOOD (fridge is bare, and freezer almost is too... and I'll pay a high price for my laziness seeing as I've got nothing for lunch today or tomorrow, and don't now have time to go to the supermarket until tomorrow evening at the earliest :o:o  )
NOW I remember... I prepped some baking potatoes to be brought into work and microwaved for lunch with a tin of beans ... and forgot about them and left them in the fridge at home ... so now I will be spending £4 or so on lunch
