As an aside, it's not all of it & the calculations make no sense. I was due two payments:
a) £3,762.80 and b) £671.57.
The payment received was £3736.79 so £26.01 short - and I expected it a few quid over with the interest.
Guessing the second payment will come in due course, but if anyone has any ideas on the small discrepancy I would be interested.0 -

Hi all
I would urge anyone still waiting to email Stephen Hester.
I sent an email (a bit of a rant mind you) on Wednesday night, threatning to go to my MP, Jessica Gorst-Williams @ the telepgraph (honestly, I know from my own work that banks etc do things when they think she is involved) and also small claims court. I said I thought eight weeks from acceptance was being more than reasonable and at the very least, I wanted to have the premiums refunded by 1 November which was 8 weeks from my acceptance.
Got no automated reply, so on Thursday night send it to the two email address noted on this thread. Still no response but checked my bank account about 3pm yesterday and the PPI refund was there and the interest (nearly another 2k) went in late last night.
Can't even begin to tell you how much of a reflief it was, considering how much me and my family have been struggling in the last few months. Been able to pay off so much stupid debts like store cards etc and treat ourselves into the bargain.
Hope everyone has some joy in the next few days but definately email!!!0 -
Just trying to help the parents out with their RBS PPI reclaim and have come across the following:
*end of August, letter sent offering £12,900, so acceptance sent back to RBS
*new letter received 20th Oct offering £8,400 due to a "mis-calculation" and requesting acceptance as this was the group's "final offer"
Can they do this?!
Any advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks0 -

Dear Mr Hester
Please accept this email as a formal complaint from myself. I have been waiting 36 working days for my payment to be received and still, there is is nothing in my bank account.
I have rang your PPI team on numerous occasions....mainly without the phone even being answered.....and keep on being told the same thing, no payment has left yet. The people on the end of the phone cannot give me a date or tell me what the hold up is.
The claims colleagues have confirmed that they received my acceptence letter on the 5th of September and I work out that the 28th working day would of been the 13th of October and we are now on the 20th of October.
Can you please advise me of what the hold up is and give me a date that I will be receiving my payment. I have been a loyal customer with Natwest for over 12 years and I dont want to have to leave and bank with another company.
My PPI claim references is as follows:_____________________
I look forward to your swift response
Hope this helps...... x
Hi thank you so much for this..... it's now the moment of truth i'm about to check it should be in today...if not i'm sending that off!!!
Thank you so much again

hi ive just been reading the posts on here over last few days. ive put a claim in aug 2010, that went to the financial ombudsmen to settle. im now in the waiting period of eight weeks from 30th sept 2011, which is now extended up to another 4 weeks. on sat sent this email to 'Stephen.Herster@rbs.co.uk' as it seems to be working for most of you.
Hello Mr Hester & Team,
hi I’m very frustrated and disappointed by the speed RBS IS handling my PPI claim that i started with you in AUGUST 2010, over 1 year ago. I’m now receive a letter for another delay.
It is interesting to see that this is how a RBS customers are treated.
I can assure that I am not stupid, I am educated and intelligent enough to know when I am being fobbed off.
I have spoken to a numerous people at your call centre, all giving different timelines and how my claim will be concluded.
I felt that I was speaking in very plain English when I merely asked the following questions:
- Why is there 8 week (now 12 weeks) delay on returning something that is mine?
- How can you justify this as treating the customer fairly?
- How is this customer service?
- What exactly are you going to do to clear this matter up in the quickest time possible?
Since this seems to be very difficult for you to understand, I will repeat again in no uncertain terms that I will not disappear or cease until this matter is resolved to my satisfaction. I will be using all the avenues available to me to ensure that this is highlighted, I have passed this on to my team, who will contact you shortly, namely, FOS and Watchdog who will be in contact with you offices.
Kind Regards.

Again, my experience is similar to other posters. After emailing the senior guys last week, I have today received a payout.
However, again like other posters, the amount is discrepant from the total I was expecting. Mine is for several loans, so I could understand them coming in several tranches, but the figure doesn't seem to have any logic behind it.
It is not divisible of the total amount, or a multiple of any of the smaller amounts, it bears no relation to the estimated additional interest (assuming 8%), and the tax had already been deducted from the calculations.
I'm going to leave it a couple of days to see if more money drops into the account, but it is bizarre to say the least.
Any ideas why we're receiving discrepant amounts?I'm a...I'm a real traditionalist of course0 -
After e-mailing last week, just checked my acct and I've received a payment from rbs, it matches the 'Total refund of PPI' as per the customer offer sheet, but as yet no interest (either as per original offer, or any additional interest for delay past 28days) received. But given others experience, I'll wait to see when that goes in, probably later today?
But hey, at least its a start so I'm reasonably happy0 -
I've just checked my bank account and pleased to report I've had a payment. Minus the interest but I was expecting that after what I've read on here! Any idea when I should expect to receive the interest payment...? I understand they have to re-calculate that now as they were 6 working days late with the payment. All very confusing!0

Reading this thread I at least know why I've not been able to get through on the various numbers on a customer's behalf.0
