been trying to apply for the new ryainair cash passport.
with no luck as of yet.

i have tried 3 different debit cards, and entered my details about 6 times now, and all i get is the following message.
    Sorry...
We are unable to continue with your online Ryanair Cash Passport order at this time.

Thank you for choosing Ryanair Cash Passport.

has anyone succeeded in completing the application?

there seems to be no help or phone numbers that can be used for queries regarding this card, well not until you have the card that is.
I phoned up the general ryanair customer services 10ppm number, to have the operator say, Cash Passport, i dont know what that is, you can book without charges using a mastercard prepaid card.

had exactly the same problem. despite numerous attempts on various days, keep getting the same result. anothermemeber of my family has also tried with the same outcome. i have managed to speak to someone at ryanair about it who didn't really seem to understand the problem (they had a heavy russian/east european accent). they said that i must be inputting the wrong information! then they asked me for my card details. when i refused, they said that they were then unable to help me.

you do wonder whether they have done this to limit the number of the new prepaid cards that are issued, thereby minimising the numbers of passengers that are able to avoid their booking fees.
  • Thanks lurkylurky.

I again got close to applying for one of these things this morning but my view currently is that anyone who already has a prepaid Mastercard may not need to for quite some time yet. This is not to be taken as advice, but here's why I think so.

That's true, but I think it's just a matter of time till they impose this credit card everywhere... I can also confirm there were no extra charges, I paid £156.

I got the same page, but in my case it was displaying my usual HSBC card verification... I guess it's a problem with the Lloyds system?

i thought i'd had a brain wave for a moment (rare as that may be). on the first webpage when you try to order one of these cards, there is a link to FAQs at the bottom. on the FAQs webpage it states that "due to the variety internet browsers available in the market today we are unable to fully support every browser. The browser our site supports is Microsoft Internet Explorer; IE6.IE7 and IE8".

i am running IE9 so i thought, lo and behold, that must be the problem. so then i tried to order the card using Firefox 3.6 but that didn't work either... but it wouldn't, would it, as the webpage says only IE6.IE7 and IE8. then i hopped on to my girlfriend's laptop which is running IE8. bristling with confidence i filled in the form again for the umpteenth time in recent days and guess what... it made no difference, it still didn't work. back to square one. this has now become a personal duel between me + mr o'leary!

on your screen Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, scroll to the bottom, are the boxes use SSL & TLS ticked if not, tick them...then try

what does this mean in plain English?

Just did that, and no change...
  • My purchase failed at the 3D Secure debit card screen. It was blank where I'd usually enter my extra password digits. I waited 5 mins, phoned the cust service number. Guess what? No option for help in initial purchase. I went round the menus again and tried 'lost card'. The call center told me they could not see if the transaction went through and to check my bank a/c. I won't see a debit for 1 or 2 days. I guess it hasn't worked but I haven't even bought the damn card yet and the service is pants.
Of course O'Leary would be thrilled if no-one bought one of these cards!
  • I think that my debit card had a pre-authorisation for the amount but still the application for the Ryanair cash passport was not accepted :(
