If I was cynical I'd say that "shop elsewhere, we don't care" = "we're on a kickback from the PPC and it heavily outweighs the revenue we get from your shopping"
I'm not cynical though, so I won't say that.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
The "shop elsewhere, we dont care" is probably reasonably close to the truth when it comes to the reality of customer services.
in my opinion the only way you could make these places sit up and take notice is via the legal route, if possible.
If the store manager is responsable for all of his staff ( including contractors) then would there be any merit in taking legal action against the store as opposed to head office ( which in the case of ASDA appaer to show a we dont care attitude)? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
I find it hard to believe they would say that sort of thing really, the average shopper is worth about £100,000 to the supermarket over their lifetime.
I've had tickets from TCP also, I just ignore them, bunch of cowboys!0 -
I'm likely to be getting a letter from Asda Bedminster (or whoever does their parking etc) as I went over the two hours due to a problem with the car that took some mins to sort...
With the new changes in law, do I still ignore any letters/invoices etc?
Thanks0 -

Yes ignore , the new law has no bearing whatsoever on the validity of these fake tickets. All it does is enable the Parking Company to ask the keeper to pay if the driver is not identified.
But a fake unenforceable ticket remains just that regardless of who is asked to pay it .0 -
I went over the time, but I was in the shop spending! AND the car park is free, no ticket machine and there were plenty of spaces. I am sticking to my guns and having nothing to do with the private parking company.0

Well I haven't had a reply to my letters sent to the store manager and the CEO of ASDA, not even an acknowledgement.
I haven't heard anything from T&C parking either, but perhaps it's early days.0 -
Just had a reply in the post today from ASDA store manager asking me to ring as they don't have a contact number for me, so we can resolve this.
They have my address! why could they not resolve it by post.0 -
Parking charge QUASHED by ASDA store.
I contacted the store manager after he wrote to me and made an arrangement to see the customer service Manager today, the Manager was on his day off. Also, the first letter had just arrived this morning from Town and City Parking and so I took that with me.
The lady, was very nice and tried explaining the reasons why this happens and I just said I had heard it all before but that this was still outrageous, I was polite though.
I also told her that the last time I was in the store I was rushing to get to the car and didn't spend my usual amount. She told me that the next time that I think I might not have enough time, I have to go to customer service, tell I might be running late and still have to go through the check out and they will take my car number and tell the car park attendant not to put a ticket on.
Thanks to this site, I was informed enough to know what to do. I wouldn't have paid the charge anyway after the advice given here, but feel better having had it quashed.:)
Oh also, After receiving the store managers letter, I got a reply from the CEO's office saying they could do nothing and that was their decision! so it seems like a case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing0 -
Of course they can do something. ASDA are the ones who are employing the PPC.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
