There is something like a 1 in 200,000 chance that you will receive a court claim, although no one has ever heard of TCP doing it.

Even if they were insane enough to do it, it would be moved to your local court anyway.

    Relax.

Wouldn't it be strange if TCP were based in the USA? How would you feel about sending money there? You'd probably think they were outside their jurisdiction?
Well TCP is based in Scotland. Transport is a devolved matter for the Scottish government. They shouldn't be allowed to operate outside of Scotland.

Even if you were going to pay the 5 days had already passed when i received the letter and they have added £22 for the privilege

We know who Whyte & Co are, a debt collector like all the others who just write letters and have no powers to actually 'collect debts' like this where there is no credit agreement and zero chance of winning in Court in the 0.0001% of cases where a PPC tries (TCP don't bother with Court anyway, like most PPCs they just rely on stupid uninformed and easily-led people paying when they see the letters).

Their letters are featured in the sticky thread with all the PPC letter-chains. That's why it's there to show everyone what letters to expect:

I think TCP don't use AA Hutton any more, just their own letter then 3 efforts from Whytes, as shown in pics under their name.

    Then it's scam over.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Found this thread on a Google search following receipt of a £60 'fine' for overstaying, so thought I'd resurrect it to relate my experience.

The 'fine' was for overstaying the 2 hour limit - in my name although the car was being driven by my wife, on her weekly trip to the store with her 86-year-old mother, for whom the weekly trip to Asda is one of the week's highlights [!]. Between them they spend >£150 on each occasion and take their time, including buying tea and cakes in the cafe.

I've just rung the store, explaining all this to their Customer Service manager, expecting to have a good old ding-dong. Instead, she immediately agreed that the charge would be waived if my wife brought in the letter, and that she would tell TCP that the number plate on my car should be ignored for future parking 'contraventions'. Took the wind out of my sails somewhat! And so as long as they keep to their word, they will still have our custom...

Just got exactly the same letter. Interesting to see what methods they will use to recovery the money.
