Tube Drivers get £50k Deal.

There are very few places in central London that aren't accessible by bicycle from one of the main-line train stations. Hence the reason why I rarely use the tube.0

so here is the logic of some so-called free market thinkers on here......
find the lowest amount someone gets paid for doing a similar job in another country and that's the amount we should pay here.
why not set prices in the same way?
how much does a kilo of rice cost in india?
how much is a litre of diesel in USA?
how much does it cost to rent a one bedroom flat in cloud cuckoo land?
oh such sense.....
and for those that don't like big government and red tape...apparently this doesn't apply when it comes to legislating against the collective actions of workers.
I do not think that is the case.
But why pay someone £50k to do a job when there are thousands of people readily available who would do the job just as well for £30k. That is just wasting peoples money.0 -
This is absolutely not true.
Why not? A commercial pilot needs thousands of hours of flying time to qualify. What is the train driver's equivalent? DH trains commercial pilots and I can assure you that there are pilots out there who earn less than £50k pa.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

There are a lot of tube drivers on less tan £50k also.
A newly qualified pilot can expect to earn between 30k - 60k depending on the airline/experience.
With experience and a promotion to captain, you can be earning over 130k for someone like BA. Even low cost airlines like Ryanair, a senior captain can earn around 100k.0 -

I never said they couldn't, but in terms of prior training and current responsibity the two jobs are poles apart. I don't have a problem with tube drivers earning above average wage, I think they should. However I think their earning more than a pilot is crazy. Just look into what even a newly qualified pilot has to have done to get that experience and the cost incurred in doing so.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? yes. all of them. isn't it just a flat rate as soon as training is finished, at the moment they all get £42,000 regardless of experience, length of service etc (although in practice you have to have worked for LU for ages as a professional tourist confuser before you can apply to get a driver's job).0 -
why the utter f*** do train drivers AND their families get free transport????? everyone else has to pay to commute, so why shouldn't they??? do tesco employees and their families get free weekly shops?
fair enough if they get a 10% discount or something. This must cost millions. Insanity.
they make me feel physically sick. greedy lefty unionist dinosaur scum. paying uneducated blue collar fools more than nurses and teachers. It is a f***ing joke.0 -
