    Hi there

I too am the financial 'sorter' in our house. My husband is hopeless and I've just got him out of some debt but he is still making a mess of things - I've started the process of getting his bank charges back but he is still pay the bank £90 a month in charges. The biggest difficulty is getting him to be honest about it all. He admitted to two loans and two credit cards obtain over the last six months and could not pay because he had lied to the institutions each time. I used the last of my savings to pay the two loans and now there is nothing left (I've got my own debts but am well in control of them) I can do nothing else for him. He even won't admit he has a problem or that he is still getting into trouble.

Its very difficult but there has come atime when I have said you're on you're own mate - don't come to me if you can't manage.

    Take care

  • There are a lot of warnings on this site regardin consolidation loans and I gather that the general opinion is that they are not a good idea. They are also "secured loans" secured on your home of course. You need to find out what the money is being spent on, is it accumulated interest and penalties? Or is it compulsive spending? If it is the latter, you need to find the pattern which causes this and to look at ways of breaking that pattern. Too often it is put down to being irresponsible, but that is not always the case. Good luck.

I live 5 mins from the New Forest so can look into some sites for you - there is one just up the road from me - close to a pub!! Let me know what sort of thing you want and I'll look into it for you x

I think we're looking for somewhere where we won't have to spend any extra money. So pubs are out :(, but a tesco nearby would be handy for buying cheap meat to cook. I think somewhere to just go walking and have a picnic each day, chill, read a book, spend some quality time together that sort of thing. Hence the 3 days is enough, or hubby would get bored.

Ashurst would be ideal (other than the pub) it's on the edge of the forest, so not too far to drive, you have a Tesco/Asda/Morrisons close by and can easily go on further if wanted to. Only thing is, it's quite near the train track!

Or Brockenhurst is further on and that's nice too. Actually wherever you go will be nice as it's lovely down here. We went out for a walk yesterday and it was like a hot summers day. Was bliss.

I'm almost tempted to try camping myself!!! :rotfl:

We've managed to get hold of a BOGOF for Thorpe Park, this works out better paying £32 for the tickets than using the nectar points. As the nectar points would be equiv of £42.50 food shopping.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to morgani who told us to go ahead with an expired mobile phone cashback offer, because this morning hubby received a cheque for £102!

Secondly another BIG THANK YOU to nevadagirl for the parcel that arrived this morning with some camping gear. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but hubby called to say this huge box had arrived for me.

    Latest update...

More car trouble :( The engine needs replacing. I just can't believe our luck. The only good thing is his dad will only let us pay £200 toward it and he's going to do the labour for free.

    Hi Helping Hubby

Have done you a personal message. Know just how you are feeling. Just had a go at the OH half as he has been lying again (whats new!!!). Bank charges again this month - he is paying his bank £90 a month to service his account. We are doing the claim back thing but there is more being added all the time. Even though I've taken control. I've also just told him I will get back off him the money I have had to pay out for him from my own money over the months. I feel like getting revenge on him.
Contact me through the personal message.
