No go for it - the first one might jog people's memories about stuff they've got gathering dust. If you don't get any this time you've got plenty of time to keep an eye out.

If you cant get plates etc then you can always buy paper plates and plastic cups. You've been offered a tent so you need something to cook with and somewhere to sleep. You can buy a camping stove for as little as £25 and just take your own pots and pans. My friends always take their duvet camping and sleep on a blow up matress! This would still be a cheap holiday.

I'm feeling a bit brighter today.

My food shopping routine is working out perfectly. I've been doing it for 2 weeks now and we haven't spent a penny extra during the week.

have a look at Camber Sands, thats the only sandy beach I personally know of on the coast (on my end of it anyway!) they have chalet parks so there must be a camp site. That or Pett Levels is nice, sort of sandy in parts and the camp site there is literally on the other side of a teenie road and the sea wall :-) Then you could drive over to Sunny Hastings (a great place to visit, not too great a place to live!!)

Hello helping_hubby, there is a beautiful campsite in Polzeath which overlooks the beach which is very popular with the surfers. I don't know what it's called but maybe do a search for campsites in Polzeath - there are more than one. Just a suggestion. Also, what about camping abroad? Maybe taking the train to a campsite in France might be more cost effective than flights and hotels? But maybe not, knowing easyjet!

Hi helping hubby. There is a lovely little campsite near Lulworth in Dorset in woods with paths down to the sea, I just can't remember the name!

I also stayed in a nice campsite on the Isle of Wight, again can't remember the name except it was on the extreme southernmost point of the Island.

Sorry neither of those suggestions is very helpful, is it?

I suggest you post a question on the Holidays forum here. I did (about caravan/chalet sites) and was overwhelmed with useful info and have booked a holiday as a result!

Great news on the office move, things are clearly going your way now.

    How true is this?

Saying "I can't afford it" gets people off your back, is the best ever excuse / reason for not doing overly-expensive things and best of all ITS TRUE.

This is my best tip for cutting spending, Say "I can't afford it..." I have learned - sadly very late - to do this, and it appears to be working :D

Thank you Seaxwyn, I found one in Lulworth and bookmarked that. I did post on the holidays forum. One person gave me 3 sites to check out. But they're quite far away. Driving to the furthest part of devon and cornwall for 3 days just doesn't appeal, but ones to keep for next year if we decide to make a proper holdiay out of it. :)

Hi Helping-Hubby... have just read your thread through (meant to be going shopping, so you've saved me some money...:rotfl: )

You've done so well since you 1st posted, well done.... :T :T

As for camping sites, I don't know much about them as never been camping.... perhaps I should? Wonder what my 19month old would think of it! Anyway, it only takes 3 hours from Southampton (not sure where you are) to get to North Devon... Croyde/Saunton Sands and it's beautiful there, well worth the drive and sure there are lots of fab campsites around. And it's far enough away to feel like you've had a holiday. We go there quite often just for the day as my BF surfs. DD & I play on the beach eyeing up the men in wetsuits, well I do anyway!

Or the New Forest is lovely too but no beach.... I'm like you, I love the beach/sea. We're going to Newquay next month, I saved up the vouchers from the Sun and it cost £65 for 4 of us.

As for flights... if you shop at Sainsburys/Tesco I think you can exchange the clubcard/nectar points for airmiles... might take you a while to save up enough but if it's free then worth thinking about. I know with Tesco if you do online shopping you can find bonus codes for an extra 500 points. All adds up.

Keep smiling.... you've done really well....

    Have a lovely Easter :easter:
