Supporting my husband, what can I do?

We have agreed (as suggested by hubby) to have a monthly meeting on the 1st to write up the previous months budget.
For now he's happy for me to nag (he nearly freaked when I said I would leave him to it), but I'm sure the time will come for him to become annoyed by it and weekly updates seem like a good idea.0 -
Just a little update. It's been 3 weeks since my hubbys lightbulb moment. I think things are going rather well.0

Good news...hubby hit the £1000 mark on ebay (although fees have got to come out of that).
He's also transferred £4k from the 25% card to a card with lifetime interest of 6.9%0 -

Well done - you are really making great progress0 -
Is my husband making progress? I think he is. I'm very proud of him so far for his efforts.
Today he sold his car :T I can highly recommend ebay classified for selling. We had it on autotrader website for 2 weeks and only had one person interested. 1 week into a 28 day listing on ebay and we had 8 questions and 2 seriously interested people...and its only £9.99 to list, although I think it's increasing in March.
He's also cashed in some shares he had, and he got lucky too as the share price was extremely good.
The remaining money on the 25% card will be paid off with the shares and car sale soon.
Ebay sales are totalling £1250. So all in all thats about £3k paid off the cards since his lightbulb day. :T
I've redone the snowball calculator and the credit card debts of originally £16k will be paid off in just over 3 years. Sooner if we can do some more shuffling and get a 0% card for a bit.0 -
congrats on getting so far in such a short time. bet ure glad u came on here now, i know i was when my lightbulb moment arrived.

hey!
Please please accept my heart felt thanks for your inspirational posts. My partner and I just went through the same thing a few weeks ago, although both of us were "fessing up" to our debts. We've shifted balances around, made a list, made a budget, sold things on ebay, and all of the things you talk of. Now we're talking openly about things and although I don't like being in debt to over 14k, I (a) KNOW how much debt I'm in and (b) know how I can repay it.
My debts were run up more or less like your husband's - and if he feels as do I, a bit sheepish and foolish for letting it get so bad, but relieved to have opened up and relieved to be on or very near to the straight and narrow, then he is a very lucky man to have you for moral support and you are a lucky lady for having someone who places their trust in you as much as he obviously does. It's nothing short of gutting to fess up in my opinion, and for myself and my partner, it has only deepened our feelings for one another.
So good luck. Seriously.
Cos if you can do it, so can we.
