:rotfl:
I ordered yesterday afternoon and the fleece came this afternoon  It is good quality and good value. Postage was £8.50 but a big package.0 -
I've bought draught excluders form Lidls (£4.99) ... got one at the front door with a thick lined curtain, one at the back door with a thick lined curtain again, and one at the sitting room door.
When it starts getting a bit dark I close the curtains in all rooms (around 6.30pm) and put the little lights on, including the fire lights to give the illusion of heat!
It's been quite cosy!
*I want to start buying a few things on my shopping to put away for over the winter (dry and tins)
*I've washed all the throws for couches and beds
*Got to get my little hot water bottles out (£1 for 2 in Poundland and covers 2 for £1 in Poundland!) so can sit with them tucked into my sides so 2 cats get some heat as well as myself (they sit beside me on an evening).1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -
Rising from the ashes, how is your foot today? Did the consultant get back to you?Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

Jamanda I love bottling fruit have done loads of pears and apples this year and just when I thought things were calming down my mum took her trolley to my brothers and filled it up again with more bramleys bless her :rotfl:
Picked up the free grit at the weekend :j
Have to try Rosies coat on see if it still fits her tis a rather fetching burgundy waterproof with sheepskin lining so she'll be toasty warm.

During the mini heatwave we had in Spring, I went round all the windows and put that foam sticky tape stuff on them in prep for this winter as the windows didnt seem to close very tightly and you could see the draught coming in when i put a stick of lit incense against it (didnt have any candles!)
Noticed the difference immediately and was feeling all smug. Then a few weeks ago I bought 10 window locks like these http://www.your-security.net/ekmps/shops/yoursecurity/images/era-820-52-window-staylock-for-hinged-wooden-windows-151-p.jpg as it was part of our house insurance that we had window locks on all windows.
Had the T section bit already but not the actual locks. Put them on, screwed them tightly and Hey Presto! windows get pulled even tighter into themselves and you can actually hear the noise from outside vanishing.
Kinda wish I hadn't spent a whole afternoon putting that foam stuff on the windows now - the locks have done a much better job at making them draught-proof! And made the flat more secure. Was £10 for the 10 locks and t sectiony bits from ebay.
Might be another thing to consider when draught/winter-proofing your home. Hope that helps someone xShe believed she could, so she did.0 -
Thanks to whoever mentioned the gel packs and making sure the first aid kits were replenished. I'm so accident-prone! I even slipped on my wooden floor when I came home from work today - I took my shoes off, went flying and slammed right in to a door. No wet weather or ice to blame! My eye/side of my face is going to look fantastic and will no doubt spark all sorts of speculation :rotfl: It is par for the course with me, though - I'm under strict instructions from various family members never to clean windows or hang curtains.0
