 I`ve bought these and put my kitchen curtain rail up with them, the rail is up but i`ve not put any curtains up yet.
I`ll have to keep a close eye on them when they do go up.
Smeeth & peking & anyone else that i`ve missed
Oh and smeeth - there will never on this planet be anyone more hopeless at knitting than me lolHave a go! I actually like it but nothing that i make will ever come close to being wearable so i gave up

I knew I'd seen the idea on here but couldn't remember who from! I had 2 rails that I put up with them, one for a heavy door curtain over the sitting room door stayed up for about a day with the curtain on till I went to open it - but the backs of the curtain brackets weren't flat, so they weren't sitting so tight to the wall, plus as I said it is a heavy door curtain. The other one had 2 light weight unlined cotton curtains on it & we were opening and shutting them no problem, but after a fortnight, it too gradually descended. Could well be aided by the cat playing with the curtains though, so your kitchen ones could be safer?
They've come down smoothly enough that I've peeled off the stickers ready to fix to the battens when I've got them. This will involve a bus trip to B&Q to get the stuff, so I'm not going to try before half term.0 -
Hi Frugal - it was me with the sock thing - I tink it will depend on the conditions and the sock! Which is of course not much help BUT I think its worth a try for the children anyway as they tend to bounce anyway and you cant get yakkies that small. It is someting I remember my dad talkng about but bear in mind he would have been 94 if he was still with us.
Happy - believe that hot water bottles are SO expensive - surely they are a necessity these days. Can you perhaps get them on ebay??debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -

Ah thanks- now I am wondering what the best sort of sock is
I don't know why they don't do Yakkies in kids sizes  After DD broke her arm falling IN the house recently, I don't want her falling and breaking something else this winter  The other DD just bounces - made of rubber that one0 -

Someone posted about wearing socks over shoes - I had no idea this worked!!! I think I will use my old non matching socks for the DDs over their shoes.
I had seen some old folk wearing their socks over their shoes when I was a kid.... Have to admit to having a good laugh about it then, however, it's obviously proof that it works, Hmmmm now to decide which looks better... landing on my butt and people laughing or someone thinking I'm drunk because I have my socks on over my shoes instead of inside of them.Thriftkitten

Our snow boots arrived today aswell and are indeed lovely - i'm sat here modelling mine as i type!!! The foil I ordered for behind the radiators also arrived in the post today. I also stocked up on my first aid kit in my lunch hour. Darling OH bought a curtain rail to go with the thermal/blackout curtains we got yesterday - they are for my sister's room, she's up in the loft so we prioritised getting her as cosy as possible first. He's going to put them up tomorrow.0

I've been stashing the boys' holey socks for stuffing draft excluders but I'll use them over DS2's shoes/boots for HM size 13 yaktracksand over my & DS1's footwear until we get some.

I wore my cotton trader boots on the school run this afternoon under my work trousers, they looked fab, however... wearing my welly sox that are knee high presents a problem, my sox constantly turned round and ended up as toe warmers, Im assuming ankle sox or tights would be best as it seems to be catching on the fur at the top of the boot.Thriftkitten

i've just bought some Angora long underwear at Lidl's today. Long underpants and a long sleeved top. That should keep me warm on long winter evenings, and on days out in the snow with the dog and sled. ;-)
They are on special offer in Lidl's in holland.0 -
