I read that this year will be very cold and very windy and exceptionally snowy!
I know I am a bit late but I finally have some energy back now I am taking some extra iron and have spent the weekend sorting out some of my winter stuff from last year and have realised I do have a list of things I need :S
One thing, I don't know how it happened but I only have 1 fleece blanket :-O We usually keep 4 to snuggle on the sofa with so I need to get a couple more, has anyone seen any cheap lately? (I like them big!)
Also a big plastic flask for tea/hot chocolate?
What salt do I need for the drive way?
And where can I buy a wind up torch?
TIAEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
OH left for work before 6 this morning and said there wa a VERY slight frost!
I have been finding it chilly on a morning too. Which is strange for were I live at this time of year.
I think we may be in for a very bad winter. Not that we have had much of a summer or spring:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
I had brambles in the side garden, went to pick them and not one left, I doubt it was human beings as the veg was still there, and brambles are hidden behind a big fir tree and on side of a hill, side of which can only be see from side of house, picked red cabbage, celery and last carrots today untouched, so it looks as if the birds are stocking up themselves for the winter, put bird seed out around noon and its all gone.
Wind up torches are available all over the place including places Asda or garden centres this time of year have sales on and you can pick up wind up lanterns cheaply - last year I bought some for £2.99 that had been £14.99 and are very bright with 10 led bulbs. On-line Amazon and ebay, but don't assume ebay will be cheaper as isn't always these days.
Been warm and sunny here today but like a autumn warm day, sun doesn't feel as if its strong.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Our local P0undland often does them but didn't have any last time I was in there. I reckon Wilk0s would have them too - there is one in the town near to both of us... I need to plan a trip there, prob when the kids are back at school if you fancy a cuppa - I remember we talked about that before
DW salt is ok for smallish quantities but if you want larger, 10k amounts then B&Q or garages sometimes sell them0 -

Fruball, I can't believe how quickly time is passing!
I feel like I am about ready to drop LOL! :rotfl:
My hospital appts are frequent and in that general area too so if we could combine the day (thinking petrol) that would be great
We have a wilkies in town actually and a £land, worth checking out! Thank you.
I just want enough salt to get the car out of the drive if it has been snowing/ice like when i go into labour! Any other time we would walk places and not worry about the car.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

mini tealight lanterns, not sure how mini they mean, I don't do metric...but might be handy, I've got 2 as they will be handy in the batthroom. There are other colours too.0 -

Haven't posted in a while, to be honest I'm still waiting for summer!
Have only dispensed with the flannelette sheets and pyjamas on very rare occasions. (Resorting to cotton ones, for those who have other thoughts! It's never that warm in this country for me ... )
I just wanted to add a little tip that I discovered while trying to block out early morning sunshine... (I know, never happy am I?)
I tried my winter fleece linings first, which was a bit of an improvement but not great. I also have wooden venetian blinds up, so as a last desperate measure and just because we had some handy, I stood a large piece of cardboard between the blind and the closed curtains. It worked! I just put it under the bed during the day and reckon that it will add insulation in the winter. Worth a try... and free! The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
