DD asked me if she could have her quilt back on her bed today instead of just a sheet & quilt cover as she was cold last night. Only problem is she gets very hot during the night so instead I've given her a cellular blanket and if she's still cold tonight I'll dig out another blanket tomorrow for her to use. I'd rather not put the quilt on her bed until temps reach single figures overnight.
I'll be putting the fleeces up on the curtains this week when I have the time. That'll also help clear some of the clutter in my bedroom;)
Autumn is definitely in the air. Not looking forward to all the rain thats forecast again this week as I'm escorting DD to and from summer school as she's still on crutches, might have to do it again next week if she can't find someone to go with who we both trustChild on crutches & packed buses won't mix well so I want her to have someone with her almost door to door who I know will look after her and not leave her behind on the bus or anything. Its going to be scary enough for her going off to senior school without being left behind or having another accident. She's terrified she's going to dislocate her knee again

Ace!!! If I knew the clutter would vanish when I put up fleeces, i'd have done it years ago! :rotfl:0 -

All my blankets, fleeces, "spare" curtains are in binbags in my room after my blanket box got VERY mouldy and horrible so I had to throw it out (actually chucking it is on my to-do list as its sitting on its end as a makeshift bedside table atm until I can move a different unit into my room) Roll on getting myself organised again. My bedroom looks like a warehouse with boxes of stuff piled up all over it. All to be gone by 9th September I hope, except for some good dress jewellery I'll be listing on a certain auction website and a few Xmas bits I no longer want which I'll list closer to the time
Some charity shop will love me

dawn rose things that need doing:
things done so far.
washed three out of 5 pairs of curtains.
half way through decorating porch (we have plaster on the walls this year so will be much warmer)
half way through re doing the front room from a dining room we never use to a playroom for the kids.
all school things have now been bought washed ironed and labelled for next week.
Things i need to sort
wash and line my bedroom curtains
line girls room curtains
finish off porch (2 coats of paint)
finish off playroom (skirtings, cupboards made, get somebody in to paint and wall paper, buy new curtains and linings, buy new sofabed and sideboard)
go thrugh wardrobes change clothes cash in ones that have been grown out off.
bin washable nappies (ast baby now potty training wont wear these anymore)
new pjs, winter socks for all
buy new winter clothes for the kids (growing again lol)
Dawn rose, I hope you don't mind me butting in, I saw you said bin washable nappies, have you thought about offering them on freecycle or selling them? My mum would say ' keep them in case you have another baby!', but that's why I need the hoarders thread ;-)Evening all,
dont want to depress anyone but did you see the weather for this week? Predicted 'frost' before the weekend! What?? better get my skates on and get some jimjams and be quick about it!
I'm in Suffolk, & have been wearing my fleecy pjs! Mind you, I still only have an empty duvet cover on the bed :-) getting the pjs out of the drawer was easier than putting the duvet in the cover!NaughtySpot wrote: »Hi! Have read the majority of this thread in the past couple of weeks and you're all so organised you put me to shame :T
Please can someone advise me a good way to cover my kitchen windows. I have two medium sized windows that are uPVC double glazed over the sink and cupboards (so curtains not really suitable), and one very large single glazed leaded window that is pretty big (about 6 feet wide by 5 feet drop). I put the window film on the leaded one last year (very badly due to the frame not being visible all the way round) which did make it better, but would love to improve on this. The single glazed window is over the cooker, so definitely no curtain advised!
I have no sewing machine, and very little ability when it comes to crafting but am okay at DIY as long as it is straightforward.
Would roller blinds make any difference at all?
Thanks all in advance. :j
I got blackout blinds from dun3lm m1ll last year, to replace the thin poly-cotton one's I'd had before in the kitchen, & they made a lot of difference, & being roller blinds can easily be held out of the way. Check for flammability labels first though...0 -
