Feels like temp of 5 degrees where I am on Friday. It's already feeling chillier, I'm sat in fleece pj's and dressing gown - a red hot! Too much too soon lol0

Yikes I put a blast of heating on for 10 min earlier, kids were in bath and it felt chilly, so thought I'd air the place off for when they were getting dry.
It actually feels really nice now.
I think I've decided not to bother with curtains for living room now. I suspect most nights once the tots are in bed, I'll just go up to bed myself. I have tv upstairs and my iPad with kindle installed. Bit pointless sitting downstairs alone. The only time I'll stay up is if chores need doing, but that in itself will keep me warm.
In fact, I think I'll go up now, if the quiches have cooled enough to bob in the fridge...Bossymoo

It has been cold all day. I put my waterproof fleece lined coat on twice today to take the dogs a walk and it only just kept the cold and rain chill out. The wind is making things feel colder as well. It has been a pretty miserable day. I was feeling cold earlier on so went and made myself a bowl of soup and that has prevented me from putting the heating on. I am going to bed in a bit I shall be warmer there. If it stays like this then I will get the flannelette sheets out earlier than planned.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Hi! Have read the majority of this thread in the past couple of weeks and you're all so organised you put me to shame :T
Please can someone advise me a good way to cover my kitchen windows. I have two medium sized windows that are uPVC double glazed over the sink and cupboards (so curtains not really suitable), and one very large single glazed leaded window that is pretty big (about 6 feet wide by 5 feet drop). I put the window film on the leaded one last year (very badly due to the frame not being visible all the way round) which did make it better, but would love to improve on this. The single glazed window is over the cooker, so definitely no curtain advised!
I have no sewing machine, and very little ability when it comes to crafting but am okay at DIY as long as it is straightforward.
Would roller blinds make any difference at all?
Thanks all in advance. :j0 -
prepareathome where do you get the biobulb from? sounds a gteat idea i suffer with sad and definately noticed the weather starting to tur and signs of autumn on its way.
I get mine from amaz0n - they are seriously brilliant. I get the 15w ones for the hall and landing as I don't want them really bright, and 20w for other rooms.
It's a proper white light rather than the awful yellow glow from energy saving ones.
When I installed my first one, in the bathroom, my neighbour asked if I had a sunbed in thereIt's a bit odd being in 'daylight' whilst in the bathroom when it's dark outside! Feels odd but good!
I want to get some lamps for the living room so I can have more, and get the light fittings changed in kitchen and DD's room so I can put them in there too.
They definately help with SAD and I am a seriously bad sufferer.0 -

ooh thanks for the reminder, think i'll put my flanelette sheets tomorrow, but tonight i'm definately putting on my flannel pj's and my warmer dressing gown brrrr
thanks annie for the heads up about the cold night this week, thursday night i'll test out the lounge heater.
one thing i've been doing is dehydrating a lot of veg then making up dried mixes of the veg, pulses and dried herbs so i can put a few scoops in the slow cooker with a few stock cubes and spices for a very easy soup....now i must get some more crackers in we love them in our soup0 -

Inspired today after reading some of your posts to get off my backside and take up a curtain in the lounge. Looks much better now. The other one in the pair got taken up just after I bought them, so not to drag along the floor. That was 7 months ago. Oops
I followed the thread a bit last year and after a few chilly days I'm realising Autumn is well on its way again. Time to start the great wooly-hat audit!0 -
I tested my heating this evening.
Nothing worse than going to put it on on the first chilly evening and it doesn't work
It works fine0
