Hello
I have managed to sort out my airing cupboard today, which was one winter prep job I hadn't gotten around to before. Feel great for achieving that.
I have sorted some baby stuff out and need to re arrange some things in the kitchen cupboards.
I am now very very slowly in the process of stocking up the kitchen cupboards and freezer for the winter.
must pick the blackberries tomorrow. not as many around this year as last year!
wondering what the winter holds for us this year!Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
I hope that some of you remember me and that all of my friends across the pond are well.
Talk to you again soon!

Nice to hear from you again.......30c jeepers a temp we can only dream about but then we don't usually get the low temps you have either during the winter.
Today feels as if winter has arrived as was sunny till 11am then went so dark had to put lights on and is so chilly, as well as wet. Not quite at heating stage yet thankfully but way things are shaping up I think its going to be a long hard winter even for us, without ever having a summer.
I already have my Biobulb in place and using it as I think a lot of SAD sufferers are going to notice it starting sooner this year. I have just ordered some lamp size ones at last, as loathe over head light, which I had to use last winter but cannot find anywhere an old ordinary lamp, and ones I had had given up the ghost and every one of the new ones takes different bulbs but not normal size ones.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

brrrrrr it's so nippy here tonight, realfeel is just 9C and believe you me it feels like it!
i've ramped up my tea and milk powder/whitener buying, bought a bunch of new hot water bottles and some new slipper boots recently, this autumnal excuse for a summer certainly helps for motivation with winter preps
this weekend we're going to gather the last honeysuckle and rose petals so we can make some sorbet with them, the cherries are a loss again this year, the old knobbly apple tree only has a few apples but we'll give it a bash mid sept and see if we get anything for our troubles
i did the fleece in the curtains last month and it helped keep out the heat on the few hot days we had, i think this year i may make some cardboard shutters for a few rooms, we'll see how cold it gets, cold is an excellent motivator :rotfl:0 -

Probably the Scottish Glens, which isn't uncommon at this time of year, although Friday night is looking very chilly for the time of year, even here in London, but could be a good opportunity to test the heating rather than wait till it's really needed only to find it doesn't work.
In London it's due to be 25/26c ish and possibly even a bit more by next Wednesday, summers not over yet.
But the nights are nippier down to around 14c, which is a lot better than the 25c in my bedroom last weekend.
But it is time to get a wiggle on with winter prep, especially outside jobs.
