Well, as far as winter preparations are going I've had to add another thing to the list - flood preps. I'm torn between finding something similar to sandbags or a waterproof draught excluder. Hmm..

    K xx

pillow cases will work fine and half filled with soil in an emergency. Also stuff a pillow down the toilet if getting very bad and weigh down with something heavy to stop drain contents exploding upwarsd into your house

You're going to have us all knitting away... :D

How much do you need for a scarf? I'm looking on fleabay... :)

One ball of wool makes a scarf long enough (10 stitches wide) to wrap around my neck twice and still have 'tails' to tuck into my coat to keep me warm.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Unix, thanks so much...I've found this link, not sure if there's P&P to pay, but I'm quite excited...something to keep me occupied on a night and lovely pressies as well. :D

They knit very fast Fuddle and are a very easy knit (I'm not the best at knitting). I've found it quite therapeutic.

Byatt, that's how I felt when I saw the white and black one knitted up n the stall where I bought the wool (£6.50, Fleetwood market). Not sure of prices elsewhere, I know my local wool shops don't keep this wool and I've just had a squizz on ebay and its more expensive there. But very easy to knit.

    Ace, I'm 4 miles from fleetwood :j

You'll find the wool stall next to a craft stall (card templates, double sided tape, die cuts etc). The ladies that run it are very helpful and may remember the two mad Scottish ladies (me and my Mum) with the shopper trolleys (the fabric ones on wheels :D) to carry all our shopping as all the carrier bags would cut into our hands. The stall is not in the main hall but through the back indoors.

Fuddle those scarves once you are used to the yarn knit up so fast - I knitted 14 of them for Christmas presents last year and got down to 30 mins to do one by the end, Funnily enough bought yarn to knit myself one and its still sitting there untouched as just couldn't face knitting another one then, maybe for this winter.....I have cream with gold thread running through it for mine. Problem is they will last a few years so have to find something else for everyone this Christmas.
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
